The moment you saw your mother standing there on the other side of the door you were shocked, confused, a bit angry, but also a little thankful.
"What are... What are you doing here?" you asked her.
She sighed. "Um, I uh, just I just wanted to stop by and see how you were. I thought about calling, but I was afraid you wouldn't answer the phone."
You nodded and stood out of the doorway to let her walk inside. You closed the door behind and she looked around the room.
"Would you like something to drink?" You asked. "I can put the kettle on for some tea or make some coffee. I don't have all that much since I just got in the other day."
"Oh, tea is fine," she said walking over to sit on the couch.
Your Mom felt bad about technically lying to you about why she was there. Yes, it was true she wanted to stop by and check on you and she knew you most likely wouldn't answer the phone had she called you, but she completely omitted the part where Harry had contacted her. She didn't want to tell you because she was afraid if she told you, you'd think she'd was only here because of that and that she didn't care for you. And on top of that, she didn't want to cause any rifts or strains in your relationship with Harry because he went behind your back and contacted her.
You grabbed the kettle and filled it with water from the sink before placing it on the stuff and turning it on. You grabbed two cups from the cabinet and two tea bags before placing them in the cups. While you waited for the kettle, you walked into the living area of your flat.
"So, how have you been doing?" She asked you.
"I've been... okay," you said. "What about you?"
"I'm doing better," she said.
You nodded and looked down at the floor. A few moments of silence went by which felt so awkward and strange. This never happened with your mother before. You two were always so close and could talk about everything, but now she almost felt like a stranger. It had been over four months since you've spoken to her, which felt like a lifetime ago. So much had happened and there were many things to tell her, but you just couldn't find yourself to do it.
Because there were still so many unanswered questions between the two of you and your father. You were still grieving and upset over what had happened just months ago, that you weren't ready to add your shit into the mix of it all. But being in the hospital and going through of that made you realize maybe you should finally talk to your parents and figure out where it all went wrong and why it wrong.
But most importantly why they felt the need to hide it from you for all that time and how the hell Madison even found out to make it go public. There was no way you could tell your mother about what you had been through until you told her own you felt, how you really felt about everything.
Before you could open your mouth, the kettle began to whistle. You went back into the kitchen and took it off the stove before pouring the contents over the tea bags in the cups. You finished making the tea, with a splash of milk and honey and took them over to her. She took hers and you sat down on the chair near where she was sitting. You brought your feet up and leaned towards the side as you held your cup in your hands, waiting for it to cool a bit.
"Are you sure you've been doing okay?" she asked again. "You look different... like you've lost a bit of weight and a bit pale. Have you been sick? The flu maybe?"
You sighed shaking your head. "No. I've been traveling with Harry and that takes its toll on your body when you're not used to it," you said which was a complete lie.
