"I just want to say congratulations for our first mission. It takes a lot of courage to do stuff like this and I thank you for helping us." She sounds a bit suspicious. I start sweating, I hope she doesn't notice.
"Oh," I say trying to act casual, "Of course, I've always wanted to make a difference in our world." My watch rings, a message popping up on the screen and Sincerely, Me from Dear Evan Hansen starts playing. I freak out and cover the message before she can read it. "Haha, well I better go now, I'll catch you later." I tell her, more frightened than before, sweat dripping down my face.
I run around the corner and check the message. Go to the roof. I walk up the stairs as quietly as possible and unlock the roof door, closing it behind me.
"Dear Evan Hansen, We've been way too out of touch, Things have been crazy and it sucks that we don't talk that much." I check my phone again, jump. Jesus, he's gonna get me killed. I follow the order anyways, running to the edge of the building and jump the 12 stories. Right before I hit the ground, I teleport to my apartment and land on my couch.
"This procedure was in case someone decided to follow you," a voice from behind me makes me jump.
"Ya, but jumping off the freaking building?! Jeez, I am surprised I listened to you," I retaliate.
"No one can know about this," Alex steps out of his room into the light, "Do you know how many jokes and puns the others will make if they find out?" he giggles.
Dang he gets hotter every time I see him. I think to myself. "By the way, thanks for the doughnuts, I stole them back after Rose turned her back."
"Haha, awesome! But why didn't you wake me up this morning? Do you know how embarrassing it was being late," he complains.
"You looked too cute to wake up this morning," I say with a cheesy grin.
He grabs my face in between his hands and kisses me. I was startled for a moment but soon kiss him back. When we pulled apart, I hugged him. For whatever reason even though I'm shorter I put my arms around his neck as he pulls me closer. He runs his hand through my hair and I sigh. Perfect.
After a few minutes, he lets go of me. "I gotta go join Rose at the training clearing."
"How do you know she will be there?" I inquire.
"She looked pretty stressed today. Of course she'll be there," he states matter of factly. I help him put his stuff together and follow him out the door. I think he sees my disappointed face so he kisses me on the cheek. "I'll be back later you goofball," he comments, flashing his beautiful smile at me.
