8."If the universe is finite, what would beyond the edge of the universe be like?"

Ibis: "Excuse me, I'd like to apply for the McDonald's beyond the edge of the finite universe, please."

Although this is basically the same thing as saying you'd like to apply for the McDonalds seven blocks down the street, it's much more fun to say. Gives it a bit of flair, if you follow me.

When one thinks of the end of something, let's say the end of a table, they would assume that you meant the farthest side of the table(or thing), before there's merely air(in the case of the table).  When discussing the edge of the universe, I don't think that's exactly what is meant. Especially mind boggling, the idea of the universe just ending to something else is a bit absurd (although, now that I'm actually writing it down, it seems like a rather brilliant concept).

So, in this case, I am going to say that the end of the finite universe is merely when it stops being new. So, kinda of like with Earth. There would be a point where you can simply travel forward for as long as you want, but you would eventually end up in the same spot you started out at. In this case, the universe could be stretched out into a line(theoretically), but it is actually more of a sphere or football shape.

In this concept that I've heard of, our finite universe really isn't as big as we believe it to be; in reality, our universe is basically one big thing that manages to reflect itself in places to make it look larger. For example, if you put two mirrors in front of each other, it would appear that they space inside them goes on forever. In reality we know this is just an allusion. So, we can basically apply this mirroring principal to the universe. One could almost say that it is merely mirroring itself in parts, making it seem like there are loads more galaxies than there really are.

So, in answer to the question, I believe that the edge of the universe is right at the edge of your front door(mainly figurative, but you can take it literally if you'd like). Whenever you want to apply or go anywhere and you're looking to impress and to possibly confuse(all while sounding neat in the process), just say you want to go to *insert place* beyond the edge of the finite universe.
