Can you be replaced?

14. "How replaceable are you?"

Ibis: In terms of what, and to what extent? Honestly, now that I'm actually thinking about this question, I'm starting to realize how positively morbid it is. The idea that you aren't unique at all, or at least not unique enough, and that you can be easily replaced is an absolutely wretched thought. Again, the answer to this question really depends on the extent of the replacement.

For example, when concerning many general terms and positions, yes, you can be replaced. When an individual loses their identity, loses what makes them them, and they become nothing more than a number, a statistic, that is when you can be replaced. However harsh this may seem, it is the same amount of truth; everyday, people are letting people go, people are hiring another Average Joe to replace the old one; your ex finds a new person to be with, you're kicked off the team to be replaced by someone else. Sadly, life does in fact go on, no matter what you say or do.

On the other hand(concerning a more humanistic perspective), if we consider you as who you are and all the distinct things that make you you, then we can not deny or hide the fact that no matter how hard someone may try, there will never be anyone out there that will ever be the exact same as you. So, cheer up chaps; smile in that mirror, take the chance, make those mistakes; learn how to be fun, how to laugh, how to smile no matter what occurs, because at the end of the universe, no, even beyond the universe, there will only ever be one you.

Phil-the-Flower: No one is truly 'replaceable'. They can, however, be forgotten; another person can be put into the spot of one, replacing the one before them. However, no matter what happens, a remnant of them will always remain; the past is still there and can't be changed. It's all based on the memory of the person and the impact they made, be it negative or positive.
