3. Is it be possible for humans to create something completely novel and new that is based on nothing that previously existed? Or is human creativity just rearranging and building on previous ideas?
Ibis: Now this is probably one we've all heard at least once in our lives, but is it really true? In my opinion, I would almost think that at this point it would be very hard to create anything truly knew and not thought of before simply because of the fact that there are so many different people on this planet(and in the past) and we can't say for sure what they have thought of and what they haven't. For example, you could think that you were the first to create a light fixture that was really made up of digital stuff so that it could act as a 360 camera(let's say it's a circle light), while someone else last year came up with the same idea for a split second before forgetting it.
However, I do feel that there had to have an original idea once, even if that was at the very dawn of time, since if there were never any original or first ideas, how would there be anything? And maybe that question could be applied to a whole bunch of other stuff, but for our purposes I will refrain from straying too far from our original question.
So, in conclusion, I would almost have to assume that new ideas are possible simply because of the infinite possibilities within our funny little brains, but I would assume that the probability of you coming up with some strange idea that's entirely new most likely decreases immensely as time goes by.
Risu: So this question gets really deep...the thing that you have to decide before you can get very far with this question is, how did we get here? If you believe that we got here by evolution, then Ibis is right, however, if you believe in an all knowing God/creator, then there is now way for there to be any new ideas as the God/creator was all knowing so, no new ideas that way.
If the question is 'Can a human come up with a new idea?' then whether or not there is a creator would be irreverent as the God/creator wouldn't be human. Sorry if that was confusing, that's just my two cents.
