"Brooklyn?"
She turned around at the sound of her name to see Daveed in the doorway, concern all over his face. How was she going to explain herself without him judging her?
"Brooklyn, what's wrong?" He asked as he made his way towards her and crouched at her chair. "Talk to me." "It's nothing really, I'm just being stupid." She replied hastily, desperate to get off of the subject. "Brooklyn" Daveed said again and looked at her knowingly, fully aware of her lie. "The hamilton fans have been commenting things on my Twitter, angry that I'm in the cast and that I'm playing male characters... and they also made remarks on my appearance." She mumbled the last part, embarrassed that something so immature was getting her down. She looked over to Daveed to see him stand up and walk behind her. He turned her around so she was looking at herself in the mirror.
"Brooklyn, when you look into a mirror, what do you see?" He asked slowly, unsure of how she would react to the question. "I see a worthless and stupid person standing in a place where she doesn't belong." She started "I see someone who is so pathetic that she can't keep her feelings to herself; someone who will never be good enough for people-" she was cut off by the feeling of a single tear rolling down her cheek. Seeing this, Daveed wrapped his arms around her shoulders and looked into the mirror as well. "Well I see someone who is definitely where she belongs, her personality brightens up the room and her smile and laugh are so contagious. I see someone so brave and smart who bounced back from her breakdowns. I see you, Brooklyn; and I think you're incredible.". She turned around at this, still in Daveed's arms, and looked up at him with a watery eyed smile on her face, stray tears still rolling down her cheeks. Daveed moved his arm to wipe the tears away with his thumb. "There's that smile." He said, causing Brooklyn's smile to reach her eyes. She was grateful for Daveed and their relationship.Even though they had only known eachother for a few days, she could feel something between them, and she hoped that one day it could develop, if he felt the same way, that is."Thank you." She said once she had stopped crying. "For what?" He asked "For always being around, for..." She was close to saying everything on her mind, but decided against it in order to protect hers and Daveed's friendship. "...for everything really." She finished. "Aw smalls, there's no need to thank me." He replied, a grin on his face. "So I'm guessing smalls is my nickname now?" She asked, a smirk on her face. "I guess so...unless you don't like it- then we can change it" He offered sheepishly. Brooklyn laughed and tilted her head slightly. "No I like it, it suits me, like you said." Their conversation continued for a few minutes until Jazzy entered the room. "Brooklyn there you are! I was just coming to get you, we're about to start a run and-" she interrupted herself when she saw Daveed with his arms around her waist, and hers around his neck. Brooklyn looked at Jazzy weirdly, wondering why she was staring at her waist, until it all clicked. Blushing furiously, she wiggled out of Daveed's arms and stood next to him instead, making Daveed smirk. "A run? I can't wait to see it, I bet you're both amazing!" She said loudly, getting Jazzy's attention back and diffusing the tension in the room. "Yeah, it's a really good show and I hope you love it as much as we do, come on let's go to the stage!" Jazzy replied, pushing them both out of the door.
And so they left the dressing room to go to the stage, with Brooklyn leading the way and Jazzy whispering threats to Daveed about his bond with Brooklyn along the way.[A/N hello!
