Weeks passed and the cast of Hamilton was getting ready for it's opening night at the Public theatre. Everyone was on edge in the morning, frantically worrying about the choreography and spacing.
Daveed watched from the stalls as Brooklyn and Carleigh went over sections of the choreography. He was fascinated with the control in Brooklyn's movements, wondering how she made the most abstract movements seem so effortless.

"Has nobody ever told you that it's rude to stare?" His thoughts were cut short by a smirking Lin from the row behind him.
"Hey, did you find her?" Daveed asked quietly, not wanting Brooklyn to hear.
"Yeah. She wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea but she'll be there, in the third row on the aisle." Lin replied "Who is Melissa Bright anyway?"
"A casting director who rejected Brooklyn at her audition a few weeks ago." Daveed said, not remembering that Brooklyn wanted to keep it quiet.
"Wait they rejected her? She is literally the perfect Cassie!" Lin exclaimed loudly, making Daveed cover his mouth so Brooklyn wouldn't hear them.
"I want this woman to see Brooklyn perform and realise how incredible she is." Daveed explained, making Lin smile.
"You really like her don't you?" Lin smugly commented, to which Daveed casually responded "More than you could imagine."

The two men joined the rest of the cast on stage, who arranged themselves in a circle.
"Guys I have an idea! Let's all say what we're looking forward to on this journey!" Pippa suggested, to which everyone agreed and waited for someone to start.
"Ooh I'll go!" Lin beamed "I can't wait to see how people react to the show, and I hope that they grow to love it and this cast as much as I do."
"I hope that we all make lots of memories as a cast and that each and every one of us has success." Renée said.
"Well firstly I hope that I remember all of the choreography" Brooklyn said, to which Thayne replied "Amen sister!", making everyone chuckle. "But I also hope that we all become a tight knit family, and that in five years time I'll be watching and supporting each of you in whatever you end up doing." Brooklyn finished with a smile.

They continued to go around the circle, listening to each person's aspirations, until it was time to get ready for the show. Daveed insisted on walking Brooklyn to her dressing room, even though each dressing room was about four feet apart.

"So are you nervous?" Daveed asked her. "Kind of. I didn't expect to be added to the ensemble at the last minute so I'm still a bit shocked, but I just feel so ready at the same time, you know?" She replied, making him smile.
"Yeah I get it. And I'm glad you're ready, because you're going to be amazing." He said, making a rosy hue rise to Brooklyn's cheeks.

There was a brief pause in the conversation as they stopped outside of Brooklyn's dressing room.
"Dav?" She questioned. "What's up smalls?" He answered, patiently waiting for her response. "Well I'm..... um..... ok I've always believed that actions speak louder than words so-" she cut herself off as she rose on her top toes, placed her hands on his shoulders and placed a ,short but sweet, kiss on Daveed's lips.
She scanned his face for any signs of emotion as she pulled away, only seeing shock written all over his face.

"Oh my god I can't believe I just did that. Shit Dav I'm so-" she trailed off when she realised Daveed was laughing.
"What?" She nervously questioned.
"You have no idea how long I've wanted this to happen, and I didn't realise in time to react ." He laughed.
"Wait so you didn't mind it?" She asked.
Instead of answering, Daveed sneaked his arms around her waist, pulling her in for another kiss. "Does that answer your question?" He smirked as they pulled away.
Brooklyn stared in disbelief before breaking out into a fit of giggles, making Daveed laugh as well.

"What's so funny?" Ariana asked as she came out of the dressing room that Brooklyn and Daveed were in front of, seeing their position. "Hey, Brooklyn I was just going to the mic room do you want to come with me?" She asked, trying to avoid any awkwardness. "Uh, yeah sure." She smiled and made her way down the corridor, not noticing that Ariana paused to raise a knowing brow at Daveed before following her.
