The opening night of Hamilton was a smashing success, with the cast executing a flawless run that was full of energy and determination.
Brooklyn was so happy. She was so honoured to be a part of the cast and to do what she loves eight times a week: performing.

After the performance, the cast went into the foyer of the theatre to see their families as well as celebrities and news reporters. However, since Brooklyn had nobody watching her, she sat alone at the bar instead, taking in the electric atmosphere in the room.

"Now what's a pretty girl such as yourself doing alone at a place like this?" A voice asked from behind her, interrupting her thoughts about salted caramel ice cream. She turned around to see Daveed smiling down at her.
"Well I don't have anyone watching me, and I didn't want to disturb anyone so I just came over here." She rambled, making Daveed raise an eyebrow in confusion.
"Where are your parents? I thought I would get to meet them tonight." He questioned carefully.
"I stopped asking that question a long time ago." She sighed and took a sip of her drink
"Wanna talk about it?" Daveed asked as he sat next to her and took one of her hands in his.
"There's not much to say. My parents and I never got on. They wanted me to be like my sister: a steady job, a university degree and lots of snobby friends, so when I told them that I wanted to be an actor, they didn't take it well. They gave me some money for my eighteenth birthday and I haven't been in contact with them since." She explained to a sympathetic Daveed.

"I think that's why what that lady said to me hurt so much. I was longing for her and those other directors to see my talent, so it would somewhat fill the space made by my family, but you can't always get what you want right?" She dryly chuckled, making Daveed give her a sheepish grin.
"Well actually smalls there is something I want to te-", he began, but was quickly interrupted by the shrill voice of Melissa Bright.

"Brooklyn Adams?" She called, making Brooklyn's eyes widen in shock. "I wanted to personally congratulate you on your performance, I believe I was too soon to judge you, and I apologise. If you like, you can still be considered to join the company of 'A chorus line.' " She finished.
"Thank you, Ms Bright, for your apology, I really appreciate it. As for the audition, I have to politely decline. You see, I personally believe that everything happens for a reason, and so perhaps I was not the right person for the role. Thank you again for the offer, though." She politely replied.
"You're welcome. Ms Adams. I am also a fond believer of that moral, and I believe that Mr Diggs' invitation for this evening is a sign that our paths will continue to cross. Here's my card; I would like you to contact me if you ever need a reference or a job. Have a good evening." She declared and excused herself making Brooklyn's jaw drop in astonishment.
"Thank you so much!" She called back, before turning to Daveed.

"You contacted her?" She asked, still in awe.
"Well technically Lin did." He admitted, to which a tipsy Lin called across the room: "I did nothing!".
"You contacted her." She repeated.
"Well ye- yeah. I wanted her to see how incredible you are, both on stage and in general." He replied, waiting for Brooklyn's response.

It took a while for Brooklyn to compose herself. "Have I ever told you how amazing you are?" She eventually asked, making a grin spread across Daveed's face.
"Well it may have come up once or twice, but no, you definitely don't tell me enough." He teased, playing along. The pair laughed before standing up and exiting the theatre, with Daveed snaking an arm around Brooklyn's waist.

"You know smalls, I've got a sudden craving for ice cream." He said as they walked down the street.
"Salted caramel?" She asked hopefully, her face lighting up.
"Why of course!" He sassily responded while clicking his fingers, making Brooklyn burst into giggles. He looked down at her and smiled.
"I am so lucky." He spoke again.
Brooklyn looked up at him and smiled in response, before holding the hand that was around her waist and leaning into him.

"Likewise."
