finn

well crap.

this is not how i expected this afternoon to go.

what i thought would be a fun game of truth or dare is now me preparing to go on a date with millie bobby brown in half an hour.

"noah!" i call from my room. noah's been in my room all afternoon, helping me figure what all to say and do. "what do i wear?!" i ask desperately.

he stomps in my room and enters my walk in closet. "hmm," he mutters to himself, shoving past piles of clothes. he eventually pulls out some jeans and an oversized calpurnia shirt.

"this good?" he asks.

i shrug. "sure. it's advertisement for the band i guess," i manage to give the faintest laugh. why would sadie dare me to go out with millie. i mean, how'd she know i liked her. or maybe she doesn't. maybe millie likes me. no finn. that would never happen.

after getting dressed, i run a brush through my hair once more, checking in the mirror. you can't mess this up, finn. you got this.

after making sure i look good to noah, he gives me a thumbs up and i walk across the hall to pick up millie. we decided to just walk a few blocks down the street to aurora, a cafe nearby. the cast has eaten there a few times before. it's nothing too fancy, so it won't be too awkward.

i hesitantly knock on her door. "coming!" her familiar british accent vocalizes. after muffled yelling and thudding around inside, millie swings open the door, smiling.

"hey," i wave awkwardly.

she laughs. "hey."

i can't help but stare at her. she's gorgeous tonight in light blue jeans and a ruffled pink crop top with her shoulder-length hair is in two tiny french braids.

woah. she looks great. i mean, pretty, if we're going for stranger things references.

"wow." i accidentally slip out, causing a deep blush to form on my cheeks. she pinches her lips shut, smiling a tiny bit. "uh, you ready?" she nods firmly, waves goodbye to sadie, and the two of us exit the room, then the floor, then the hotel.

the brisk, chilly air- surprising for early june in the isouth- slashes against my face as we walk in silence down the busy sidewalk. our hands swing around near each other. then the explainable happens. she grabs my hand, holding it tight. after a second of confusion, i relax, and let my fingers slide in between hers.

all too soon, we're at aurora's, and i set her hand down in order to open the door. she walks in before me, and i close the glass door after we're both inside. "hi guys!" a waitress greets us, picking up two menus. "party of two?"

"yes please," millie politely responds.

"right this way," she waves her hand for me to follow her. she seats us at a booth, and we slide into seats across from each other. "can i get you something to drink?"
