i text noah that i'm leaving as i walk out the door. "be back soon!" i call to paige, gently closing the door behind me.

i creep down the dimly lit hall, deciding to just meet noah there instead of waiting on him. the walk to alexander's is pretty short, and i arrive in no time. i swing open the door to his place, making a bell go off. "millie!" i familiar voice shouts, making my head snap in the direction of it.

"hey!" i greet alexander as he wraps me in a hug.

"i'm guessing you're going to the roof?"

i nod. "correct. thank you!" i exclaim, already walking onto the elevator. i'm almost late, so i can't really waste time talking.

i press the top floor button on the elevator. the lift goes up for several seconds, and after a ding, the doors open up. i then climb up a small ladder, open a window, and then i've successfully crawled onto the roof.

nobody is there yet, so i sit on the edge of the roof, letting my feet dangerously hang off the edge. how was it that only a couple months ago, finn and i were here, saying that we loved each other.

god i want him back.

i decide to text noah, asking where he is.

me: i'm here. you coming?

noah: sorry, i had to cancel the plans. my mom grounded me for tonight :( you can still stay without me tho

me: oh ok

i'm a little disappointed that noah couldn't come, but oh well. i'll see him in less than 12 hours for filming.

the window on the roof that leads up here slides open. i expect it to be alexander coming to get me, but i'm wrong. instead, i see the familiar curly headed boy that i was just thinking about.

"finn?" i ask. i'm not really sure why though. i already know it's him.

his eyes dart up. "oh, hey. i didn't expect you to be coming here."

"noah said he'd meet me here but then he got grounded," i explain. he stares at me.

"huh. noah turned me down when i asked if i wanted to come with him," finn says with a confused expression. "whatever. i'll just ask him tomorrow."

i give a quiet nod, then stare back off into the bustling city around me. finn plops down at an awkward distance next to me, copying my actions. we sit in an awkward, but yet somehow comforting silence for several minutes until finn looks over at me.

i get a good look at his face. his soft expression stares into my eyes.

"i'm sorry. for everything." he finally gets the words out of him. i stare at him, lost for words.

"i loved you," i whisper finally, my voice catching.

"i did too millie. and i still do."

finn loves me. after all that, how does he still love me?

a silent tear drips down my face. "finn?" i mumble.

"mhm," he calmly responds, a worried expression appearing on his face.

"i still love you," i manage to say, another tear rolling down my face.

i only realize after our lips crash together that our faces were only inches apart. it's a soft kiss, not like ones before. his hands lightly brush through my hair as he pulls me closer. the kiss only lasts a few seconds, leaving me wanting more.

by now, several more tears are coming down my face. "what's wrong?" finn asks.

"i just miss you."

"i do too millie. if you want, and only if you want, maybe we could get back together," he says, almost like a question.

i think about it for a second. yes, he cheated on me. but he apologized, and i see that he genuinely feels bad. almost every day, i long for the moments we'd have together, so why not do something to get them back.

"okay. yeah. let's do it," i grin, wiping away the tears.

i lay down flat on the top of the building, placing my head on his arm which he wraps around me. i close my eyes, and before i know it, i've dozed off into a peaceful sleep. just like old times.

finn

millie's eyes are closed, and she hasn't moved in a while, so i'm guessing she's asleep. it would be kind of dangerous to fall asleep on a roof. i would stay up to make sure she wouldn't fall, but filming is super early tomorrow, and i need to sleep. badly. so with that though, i gently remove her head from my arm and scoop her up into my arms. i hold her close to me as i walk back into the elevator, then to the lobby.

alexander smirks at me as i exit his building, but i ignore it and keep on walking. i stroll down the dark streets of atlanta, stopping only when i reach our condos. with one hand, i push open the doors and make my way through the dark lobby. then we get on another elevator, and soon enough, we're in her room. paige's light is on, so i make sure to be extremely quiet. i tip-toe through the hallway and into her room. i gently set her down in her bed, then pull off her shoes, and take down her pony tail so she can be more comfortable. then i lay the sheets and bedspread over her.

after making sure that everything is good, i turn off her light and slip out of her condo, heading back into mine.

tonight went a lot better than i had expected. what i though would be a lonely trip up to alexander's ended up with me getting back together with millie, and even kissing her.

i think it's safe to say that it's been a good night.

4. i've started writing another book called Hawkins Boarding School. it's a modern day stranger things au where el and the rest of the party goes to boarding school. chapter one of that is up, so you should go read it! (shameless self promo hehe)
