"Why would Alby go into the maze? I mean, he's not a runner," Thomas asks. More questions, surprise surprise.

"Things are different now," Newt tells him, hacking away at a tree. "Alby went to retrace Ben's footsteps before sundown. Look, are you gonna help?" He asks, slightly annoyed.

Thomas shakes his head. "Okay so he's going to go back to where Ben was just stung-" He tries to clarify.

"Alby knows what he's doing. He knows better than any of us, alright?" Newt tells him.

"What does that mean?" Thomas asks. I step in this time.

"We all came up in the box one by one, right? Someone had to be first, spend a whole month stuck here in the Glade alone, that was Alby," I tell him. He looks at me with a troubled expression.

"I mean, it can't have been easy. But when those other boys started coming up in the box one after the other, he saw the truth. And he learned that the most important thing, was that we all have each other. We're all in this together," Newt explains.

"We run this place together, each contributing something different and important. One month without anyone? No one to explain what this place is or why we're here, even if their answer was that they didn't know? I would've been driven insane, stuck in your head the whole time," I think about it, pausing planting the seeds I had been working with.

Thomas looks at Chuck before picking up a sword to try and help uproot the tree.

"Yeah, there ya go, Greenie," Newt says. I let a soft smile appear on my lips before turning my attention away from the boys and back to the plants.
