Everyone crowds around the box again, trying to see what all the fuss is about. Besides the fact that the box just came up a few days ago and shouldn't be back. Gally and Newt both reach down and pull the top of the box open. Newt jumps down into it. He stays silent.
"Newt? What's going on? What's down there?" I ask him.
"It's a girl..." He says. My heart drops.
"Is she hot?"
"I call dibs!""Another one?" I ask, peeking into the box to see for myself and ignoring the dumb comments from the boys.
"I think she's dead," Newt tells us. I bite my lip. Why would they send us a dead girl? I've been waiting for a girl since I got here, and the one they finally send us is dead. Great. Fan-freaking-tastic. Gally notices something.
"What's in her hand?" He asks. Newt bends down to pull a folded piece of paper out of the girl's right hand. He carefully unfolds it to read the words.
"She's the last one," he looks up at us, "ever. What the bloody hell does that mean?" He asks before he's interrupted by the girl gasping, her eyes shooting open. Everyone jumps, I nearly fall into Gally who helps steady me on my feet.
"Thomas..." She says between gasps before her eyes flutter shut again. Thomas glances around at everyone before turning his attention back to the girl in the box. The corners of Gally's mouth turn down.
"Still think I'm overreacting?"
