I get two gladers to help me carry her into the medical tent, and about ten minutes later Newt, Minho, and Thomas trail through the tent.

"Jeff? Come on, what's the matter with her, why won't she wake up?" Newt asks one of the other medjacks as I try to tend to Alby. He was given priority one.

"I got my job the same way you did," Jeff tells him. Newt sighs and calls for me.

"Beth, any idea why she won't wake up, love?" He asks me in a way nicer tone than he talked to Jeff in.

"All I can guess is it's a concussion, her vital signs seemed to be fine when I checked her out before," I tell him. He looks over at Thomas.

"Did you recognize her?" He asks. Thomas shakes his head.

"No," He replies simply.

"Really? Because she seemed to recognize you," He tells him. Minho continues to look down at the girl.

"What about the note?" Thomas asks, disregarding Newt's comment.

"We'll worry about the note later," Newt says, as all three boys shift their gaze down to the girl. I feel jealousy rise up inside of me. I quickly turn away to hide the redness in my cheeks and walk back to Alby.

"I think you should worry about it now," Thomas tries to reason with Newt. Newt looks up at him.

"We've got enough to deal with at the moment," Newt says before Jeff steps in.

"He's right, Newt. The box isn't coming back up, how long do you think we can last?" I feel panic well up inside me but I push it down. Again, I'm unofficial second in command. I need to stay calm. At least on the outside, anyways.

"No one said that," Newt reminds him. "Let's not jump to any conclusions let's just, let's just wait until she wakes up and see what she knows. Somebody's got to have some answers around here." The boys all move their eyes back down to the comatose girl. I bite my lip. It's so unlike me to be jealous. I can tell Newt notices, and his face drops as his mouth opens to say something when he's interrupted by Thomas.

"Alright," The boy turns and starts to walk out of the tent.

"And where are you going?" Newt asks him.

"Back out into the maze," Thomas tells him clearly. Newt and Minho share a look before looking back down at the new girl, Minho running after Thomas shortly after. Once we're alone- well, mostly alone, anyways- Newt walks over to me.

"You want to tell me what that was about?" He asks.

"I'm not sure I know what you're talking about," I say, not moving my gaze from Alby as I tend to him.

"Come on, Beth. I know you better than anyone. Something's wrong. What is it?" He asks. I look up at him and sigh.

"It's just... weird, having another girl around here. All the gladers wanted to, like, whatever with her, even when they thought she was dead. It was never like that with me-"
"Yeah, because from the start everyone knew you were mine. And they knew that if they even thought about such a thing I would throw them down the box hole," Newt tells me, stepping closer to me. He turns me around so my body is facing his. "You don't need to be jealous-"

"What if you start to love her instead of me?" I blurt out, immediately feeling as if I had just said something completely risky. Newt laughs.

"That could never happen. You and I were made for each other. I love you, and I won't stop. No other person could affect how I feel about you," He tells me, holding my face before pulling me in for a kiss.

"I love you, Beth."

"I love you, too, Newt."
