Chapter 2
//Rose//
"ROSELYN NATALIE LOYOLA!" Madison yelled.
I groaned. "For the hundredth time! My second name isn't Natalie! Heck I don't even have a second name"
"But Natalie sounds nice with your name," Madison commented, "You should ask your mom to add it to your name."
I stared at her, "Madi, my mom is dead."
"So is mine," she shrugged.
I shrugged, sighing.
Madison isn't very sensitive to the topic of dead people, so you can excuse her rudeness.
"Hey, what are we talking about here?" Chris grinned out of nowhere.
"Dead people," I replied, casually shrugging at his horrified reaction. "So, how's Mark's last night?"
"Odd," he said, making a face. "Mark's dad had his ex-wives over and it was chaos."
"Wait" I held up a hand to stop him. "Ex-wives?"
"Ex-wives" he agreed, grinning nervously. "I swear there are dozens of them!"
"L-Let's get off the topic about ex-wives," Madi laughed nervously, running her hands through her orange hair.
"We'll see orangehead," Chris chuckled.
Madison stuck her tongue out at him.
"Madi, let's go now" I said, dragging her away by the wrist.
"R-Right! Bye Chris!" she yelled as I pulled her away.
~
"Ughhhhhh Rose!" complained Madison
"Madi, do your math homework alone!" I shouted.
"ROSE HOW DO YOU ADD THE FRACTIONS TWO-THIRDS AND THREE-FOURTHS?" she yelled.
"Oh my god!" I sighed, pointing at the equation. "You find the freaking LCD first! Have you forgotten! We learned this is middle school! At lease they didn't add 'x' to the equation! It's not even a trick question!"
"MATH IS HARD!" she yelled again and buried her face in a pillow
"Madi, this is easy!" I exclaimed, "It's just algebra with fractions."
"I'd rather eat!" her muffled voice shouted from the pillow
"Just eat that pi in that unanswered equation of yours."
Her head shot up from the pillow "Pie? Where?"
I rolled my eyes "3.14."
She groaned and tossed her Math book at me.
I caught it in midair and placed it on her sidetable.
"Madison Ariana Brown, get your ass outta bed before I go and call your dad!"
Madi groaned again but this time sat up and grabbed her math book and hastily looked for the pages.
After another half-hour of answering Madison's questions she closed her book and groaned.
"Greek Mythology is next Madi!" I yelled enthusiastically.
"Whyy?!" she complained, huffing. "I'm not interested in love stories of Cupid and Psyche, Pyramus and Thisbe, Orpheus and Eurydice, Ceyx and Alcyone, Pygmalion and Galatea..."
She then started listing off love stories in Greek Mythology.
"What about the Trojan War?" I asked curiously, "You said you like war and blood and decapitation."
"What do I care about the Trojan War?" Madi groaned into a pillow.
"Because it will affect your grade in Science and Mythology class," I answered rummaging through my bag to get my book about Greek Mythology.
They didn't provide books for us so we had to buy our own.
I got one as a birthday gift when I was eleven though.
"Let's start," I said clearing my throat. "Part One: The Gods. The Greeks did not believe that the gods created the universe. It was the other way around: the universe created the gods. Before there were-"
"Ughhhh!" Madi threw a pillow at me.
"That was only part one!"
"And I didn't even finish the paragraph!" I added.
"Why don't you have to study this?" she complained yet again.
"Because I read the book when I was eleven Madison," I said closing the pocket book and stuffing it in my bag.
"I hate you," she said, throwing another pillow at me.
"Love you two." I smirked.
"When's the wedding?" asked a voice.
"Dad!" Madison complained throwing another pillow at no one in particular.
She has a lot of pillows.
"Sorry to intrude," he chuckled "But Rose, your household is calling. You need to go home"
"Awwww!" Madison complained for the hundredth time tonight!
"Do your homework Madi," I sighed, collecting my books and tossing a few pillows on her bed while at it.
"Bye Rose," she said throwing another pillow at my face "See you tomorrow"
~
Dreams don't usually happen to be but tonight they did.
I dreamed I was in a room.
A hotel room.
A woman with soft blond hair and bright red lips was talking on the phone urgently.
A little girl with red hair and pink bows all over her dress was patiently waiting at the door.
I couldn't see their faces. But just as the woman hung up on her phone the vision cleared slightly. I could make out one feature on the little girl's face.
Blue.
Bright blue eyes.
The everything faded.
