Chapter 20

Rose

"Taylor?" I gasped

"Alison?" Madi blinked

"Swift?" Madison and I chorused

"What. Is. This. Bullswift." Madison's eyes were wider than saucers

"No, it's Becky" Taylor laughed at her own joke

"Taylor..." Madison looked like she was going to faint.

"Hello Madison" Taylor smiled at her warmly

"Jesus Christ" Madison muttered "I must be dreaming"

"Unfortunately, yer not" the other person in the cape said

"Oh my gods" I said "are you... Ed Sheeran?"

"Well it's not like I'm Justin Bieber" Ed threw off his hood "and by the way, it's Taylor Alison Sheeran now"

Madi and I stared at them both.

"I'm sorry this is taking a while to process" Madi mumbled

"Then, I'll explain" Taylor said "Astrid, please untie them"

Astrid nodded and began to remove our binds.

"Let's start with the top" Taylor said sitting down on a chair "I escaped from the media years ago with Ed and Astrid. She was like, nine or ten that time. Well, this sounds awkward to say, but Ed and I were secretly in a relationship for years now. So we had Astrid nearly twelve years ago. And, uh, I'm almost fifty now so, uh..."

Madi and I just nodded.

We were absolutely speechless.

"So I talked with Abigail my best friend, and Alyssa my cousin, before leaving. So many goodbyes, so little time. My mom and dad knew. Austin knew. But, my fans, didn't. And now I feel terrible for leaving them years ago." Taylor sighed "so I left Abigail my diary. Oh short detail. Madison, your mom is Abigail"

"I-WHAT" Madi screamed

"'fraid so" Ed said

"Jesus Christ" Madison muttered again "do you have a break room? I need a while to take this all in"

Taylor nodded "Grant, please bring Madison to the kitchen and make her a sandwich and some juice."

"Hi Grant" Madison said nervously as she walked out of the room following him

"Now, we're getting to the point" Astrid yawned

"Oh, shut up" I said

"Excuse me?"

Taylor laughed "You two should learn to get along"

"Why?" I asked

"Cause we're sisters" Astrid crossed her arms and looked at me with her bright blue eyes sprouting out from her jet black hair and tan complexion.

"Say what?"

"I said-"

"I heard you"

"Then why-"

"I think that's enough" Ed interrupted

"The point is" Taylor said "Rose, you just basically learned the truth and everything. Our location. Everything. And you're lucky enough to have actually done that. The point is, will you keep it a secret or not?"

"I-"

Would I?

I mean, this is the key for me to become a known detective!

Who would turn this down?

But then....

I looked at the faces of my family.

Taylor and Ed.

Would I keep this secret for my parents?

Maybe Taylor doesn't want to go back to the media and paparazzi.

Maybe that's why she escaped.

And Ed, he gave up his fame for the person he loved.

They're both giving me the choice that can and will change change our lives.

Astrid.

She looked like she could care less.

But under than facial expression of annoyance I could see that she really did care.

Her long black hair and confident posture looked intimidating if she wasn't your sister or someone you knew personally.

Her dark clothing made her mysterious too.

But, would she want the path of fame?

She grew up in this place where no one knew her identity.

In fact no one knew her at all.

What if she wanted the path of fame?

What if she's been wanting it all these years?

But... what if she's learned to hate it all?

What if, after hearing those stories from her parents growing up, she learned to hate it?

Either way, if she wanted the fame she would've said something.

But, my dream... Detective.

I know what Madison would choose.

Well, she's a swiftie.

I'm not.

Taylor may be my mother but...

I pressed my lips together.

"I've made my decision"
