Chapter 7

//Rose//

"I can't believe we're doing this!" Madison whispered excitedly.

"Me neither," I confessed sheepishly. "But hey! You wanted to find Taylor Swift..."

She shrugged, embarrassed. "But at least your brother agreed."

I rolled my eyes. "It was unusually nice of him... Anyways, remember, Spring break lasts only 2 weeks. We have 2 weeks to find Taylor Swift."

Believe it or not, a few months ago, we had spoke to my brother about our plan to look for Taylor Swift. He laughed at us, thinking it was a joke, but when he saw our serious faces, his face was priceless! Anyways, he allowed us, and told us to search in Spring Break.

I have a cool brother.

Anyway, Tristan make up a fib to my dad and Madison's household that we were going to a spring camp (if there's a summer camp there's a spring camp) and would be returning two days before it ended.

He asked our neighbor Kirsten Lane to accompany us wherever. Kirsten is--I don't mean to be rude but--filthy rich and a swiftie after all. She was affected by her disappearance too, so she agreed to help us.

Now here we are, infront of the first place we thought we would get answers from--Abigail Anderson's apartment.

"Just call me when you're done, girls." Kirsten had said before she drove away.

Madison took a deep breath. "Let's do this?"

I nodded and rang the doorbell.

It didn't take long before an orange-haired girl opened the door.

"May I help you?" she asked polietly, cracking the door open slightly.

"U-Uhhh," Madison stuttered.

"A-Abigail Anderson right?" I asked, gulping.

I hope she didn't think we were stalkers...

"Well, yes. I am Abigail... May I help you?"

"I'm Rose. She's Madison" I gestured to my best friend. "And I know this sounds crazy but we're trying to look for your best friend Taylor Swift. Who, you know, disappeared years ago, and.. We thought we would start looking here?"

Abigail thought for a while, looked around the hallway and lowered her voice to a whisper. "Just play along there are cameras in the hall."

She cleared her throat, "I'm so sorry Madison and Rose, but I can't help you." she winked. "But why don't you stay for tea for a while? You must've traveled far."

"Oh uh, thank you!" Madison tried playing along smoothly.

Abigail invited us in and shut the door immediately locking it in the process

"What's going on?" I asked,

"Police doesn't want us to find Taylor." Abigail explained searching for something in her room. "They've been monitoring my apartment for years now."

"But I don't understand." I interrupted her. "Why don't people want you to find her? Is it against the law?"

"No, not exactly." She sighed. "I think it was a personal request from my best friend. She didn't want anyone to find her, I guess."

"But do you know where she is?" Madison asked.

Abigail disappeared behind a bookshelf then replied. "Naturally, no. Sadly but I might have something that may help..."

She sat down across us and handed me a tattered red notebook. "This is Taylor's journal. She left it with me a couple hours before she disappeared. It's all that I have left of her." she said sadly, but in contrast, she was... smiling...

I carefully flipped open the notebook.

It was filled with graceful cursive handwriting and some first stages of some of her songs.

"Why--" I started, looking at Abigail.

Abigail held up a hand. "You're gonna ask, "Why am I helping you?" Well it's only for Taylor left a note in this journal telling me: "Abigail, the Rose garden and Madison square are the key to hope". I spent months trying to get what that is. And now you two, Rose and Madison, appear at my doorstep saying you want to find my best friend." She sighed, running her hands through her hair.

Madi and I didn't say anything.

She sucked in a breath. "I-It's getting late. You should stay the night. Really. Sift through the journal. Though I'll need to keep it. No taking pictures or taking down notes, I'm sorry."

I shifted in my seat. "Thanks... but where will we sleep?"

Abigail smiled, "I'll have that covered, don't worry."
