Chapter 3: Team 7

Sakura stepped through the door, and saw Ino chatting it up with Sasuke, Naruto laying on the floor in a heap.  It had been three days since the test and Sakura was glad to see Naruto had passed his exam once again.

"Good Morning Naruto."  Sakura remarked walking up to him.

"h-hi Sakura." Naruto blushed

of course Sakura mused  I had forgotten he had a huge crush on me when we were in the academy..

"hi Ino..hi Sasuke."  Sakura remarked.

Ino turned and looked at Sakura, a triumph grin plastered on her face  "hey Sa-ku-ra...guess what! I BEAT YOU"  

Sakura couldn't help but smile, and tease her 'friend'  "i let you win today."

Ino looked annoyed "anyway..can i sit next to you Sasuke?"

suddenly, like the last time Sakura remembered it,  all the girls started fighting about who got to sit next to Sasuke, and like before..Sakura got to witness Sasuke and Naruto kiss.  Only this time..it was funny.

Sakura clutched her stomach laughing until Sasuke spoke.  "Sakura..did you cut your hair?"

Sakura stopped laughing and stood up,  she did in fact cut her hair,  it was too heavy and was giving her such a headache.  "uh..yea i did.."    Sakura reached up and touched a strand of her short hair, held out of her face by the forehead protecter.

"it looks good on you."

Sakura's heart started to race..the last time Sasuke said something looked good on her was her wedding gown.. 

Sasuke was watching Sakura out of the corner of his eye, he saw her place a hand over her heart, and a far away look cross over her eyes, a light blush dusting her cheeks.  Sasuke sighed,  he knew the pink hair'd girl didn't get over her crush on him as quickly as it seemed.  Although he was quite surprised when she took a deep breath and smacked her cheeks.

"H-Hey Sakura..sit here next to me!"

"sure thing Naruto." 

Sakura took a seat, Naruto to her right, Sasuke to her left.   Sasuke was bemused when Sakura turned her body just right, so that her back was facing Sasuke and she was looking right at Naruto.

Sakura knew that Sasuke wouldn't talk to her at all, so she decided to make friends with Naruto once again.  

Iruka walked in and started talking about 3 man squads and Ino made a comment.  "Someone will have to be in Sasuke group...i wonder who.."

Sakura looked back at her and smiled  "i think they group the worst with the best so I know Naruto will be in Sasuke's group."

 Ino scowled while Naruto muttered under his breath.

"Squad 7!  Naruto Uzamaki"

Sakura held her breath

"Sakura Haruno..and Sasuke Uchiha." 

she released her breath. Thank goodness...i'm glad nothing has changed..

Naruto started to complain really loudly but Sakura ingored him and turned to Sasuke  "Sasuke.." she remarked.

"hm?"

"we will try to take good care of you..so please try to take good care of us."  Sakura bowed lightly and he looked at her,  a puzzled look on his face.

Sakura saw the look on his face and she smiled "because we're in teams..we gotta work together ya'know?" 

"tch.."

Sakura laughed lightly,  shocking Sasuke even more  "you scoff at it Now Sasuke..but someday you will know i'm right."

They all separated for lunch, and Sakura politely turned down Naruto's lunch request, saying she needed time to think.

And think she did..everything seemed to go exactly the same, from the conversations to the events..but was Sakura in her past? or in an alternate timeline like the one Herself and Naruto were sent to..the place where Sasuke was a flirt, Hinata was loud and angry..and Kiba  and Akamaru didn't like each other..

"Sakura?"

Sakura looked up from her lunch and saw Sasuke..but the chakra signature screamed Naruto.

"Naruto? what are you doing?"  she remarked,  watching him deflate and the transformation pop.

"how did ya know?"

"your Chakra.." Sakura smiled lightly "so what were you doing?"

"well..you seemed to like Sasuke so much..so i wanted to know why?"

"honestly Naruto?" Sakura mused "I couldn't tell you even if i wanted to..something just draws me to him..like a moth to a flame.." she looked down at her feet "and just like that moth..someday i will be burned.." 

Sakura didn't like the idea of loosing Sasuke all over again..she had just gotten him back..and started a family..Sakura leaned forward and placed her hands on her head.  For some reason this made her really depressed.

Naruto hopped up and bolted for the bathroom with a quick apology to Sakura.

It wasn't long before Sasuke appeared, He took one long look at Sakura and could tell something was wrong..she wasn't being overly happy like normal.  "Sakura?"

"huh? oh..hi Sasuke."  Sakura looked at him with a slight smile on her face.

Sasuke struggled with his question are you okay?..but he couldn't say it "have you seen Naruto?"

"yea..he went to the bathroom." Sakura replied.

"thanks.." 

"hey Sasuke?"

"hm?"

"whats it like? if you don't mind me asking."

"what's what like?"

"...having no family." 

Sasuke grew stiff and growled " it's none of your buisness you annoying girl!"

Sakura smiled lightly...Sasuke had stopped calling her annoying a long time ago..

Sasuke was annoyed..Sakura was growing more and more interesting to him every day..and he didn't know why.

A few hours later, Kakashi-sensei had finally appeared and was talking to them, wanting to know their likes, dislikes,hobbies and their dreams for the future.  Naruto spoke of nothing but Ramen and becoming Hokage..

Sakura couldn''t help but smile..Naruto was never good at being Hokage..but he enjoyed the job none the less.

"i'm Sakura Uch- Haruno." Sakura knew Kakashi caught that slipup.  "i like hanging out with my friends and sweets, I dislike things that are spicy and when people are mean to my friends,  my hobbies are are playing trivia games and memorizing new material for my medical studies. My dream..is to become the best Medic-nin."  

Sakura had to keep out some of her other likes and hobbies, because they wouldn't make any sense here..Sakura's isn't a 25 year old Jonin mother...she's a 12 year old genin who just graduated from the academy.

it was Sasuke's turn,  and all he talked about was restoring his clan and destroying Itachi Uchiha..

 Tomorrow was the test..the team test..and Sakura could only pray it would go well.
