The taxi was still bounding down the roads; Dan was manipulated onto his phone so I thought it would use the opportunity to see the letter.

It read:

Do you not remember me?

What was that? How can a note so simple represent so many different things? All that I could think about was who it could be! Was it that man we saw when Dan and I went to have a look around the house but how did he know we were in Reading? And why is someone trying to show their identity?

It was creeping me out.

Dan's P.O.V

This journey is taking ages.

I looked over to Lola and realized she was looking at something. She was being discrete with it. What was she looking at? "What's that Lola?" I whispered to her making her jump and scramble up the paper to the behind of her. "Nothing. Just rubbish" Lola's face turned red. “No, show me." I said making my eyes bigger hoping she would fall for my private trap to get her to open up. Lola purposefully ignored me. I decided to grab hold of her hands and steal it from her. So I did. I clamped her hands together and reached behind her revelling the piece of paper that was meant to be in my pocket. Lola’s smile disappeared and she looked apologetically. "Sorry." She said her face berried in her knees. I smiled and lifted her head back up. "It's alright Lola. I just hid it from you for your own protection. I didn't want to ruin it for us." I whispered not wanting the taxi driver to hear. I began leaning in for a kiss when all of a sudden the taxi driver slammed his breaks causing us to both to fall forwards quickly. Luckily the impact wasn't too powerful but it hurt my neck a little. The driver had stopped moving. I looked at him and before I had a chance to ask what had happened the driver began shouting his head off at us; putting on a fake accent so we couldn’t recognize his voice. "GET OUT OF MY TAXI NOW." Lola moved her head up and looked at me. We hadn't done anything wrong. The taxi driver never reviled his face, I tried looking at his face through the car mirror but I couldn't see a thing to know whether he was being serious or taking the piss. I began to tell just by looking through his long amount of hair that he was angry with something. "Sorry what!" I asked grabbing Lola's hand. "YOU HEARD ME. NOW SCRAM!" he roared. I picked mine and Lola’s bags up and began moving out of the car pulling Lola with me. We got out and before I had time to adjust my eyes and remember the number plate for a complaint to the company the driver speed off.

That was weird.

We were in the middle of nowhere. Just dusty ground and rocks lay on the floor. I moved my hands to the back of my neck and thought about what’s going to happen now.

Lola gabbed my hand and brought me down to sit on a rock. "Is this related to this?" She asked passing me the note. "More than likely. You didn't get to see the driver did you?" I asked Lola who just shook her head from side to side. I wondered if it linked with the note but I did go to reception this morning to ask if anyone had put it there or invited someone too but they said if anyone has a letter it had to be left with reception who will deliver it personally. They claimed it may be someone drunk in one of the hotel rooms but still something about it doesn't seem right.” I said biting my nail.

"Fuck sake." I shouted picking up a rock and throwing it as far away as I could. Lola moved back in fear and I felt intently guilty. I wrapped an arm around her and she balanced her head on my left shoulder. "What we going to do Dan" Lola asked me. "I'll ring Kyle and tell him we're lost.” So I picked up my phone and called his number. He didn't answer. We had a weak signal. "How was I so oblivious to where the driver was taking us?" I questioned myself.

"It’s my entire fault. I distracted you." Lola cried. "Lola you're a big distraction to me but this is not your fault stop blaming yourself." I grabbed a hold of her hand and pulled her up so we were standing. "We are going to have to walk it."

After a large distance of walking we were still having no luck until we came across a building about three stories high it looked abandoned but the size was immense. I ran up to the door and knocked on it. There was no answer but the door moved open with my touch. It was a bare building with only a stair case going up in the middle of the room. "Lola I’m going to go up to the top of the building and see if I can get some signal up there. Also we may be able to see where we should be walking to. You coming or waiting there?" I asked beginning to make my way to the stairs. Stamping on it to check it was capable of my weight. "Wait for me!" Lola whaled as her little legs ran towards me. I grabbed her hand and we climbed the stairs.

On the top floor were a few big empty squares in the walls where the windows may have been a long time ago. Weirdly there was a broken mattress on the floor but that looked disused now. We looked out the empty windows and saw a city in the distance. Not that far away. It looked as though we would just have to walk down a hill and then keep walking straight ahead until we reached it.

I got out my phone but I still couldn't get any signal. I turned to Lola with a sorry expression. Her lips were dry and she looked fairly pale now. "You thirsty?" I asked her hoping she would say no because I haven't got any water.

"I’m alright thanks. What about you because I have a bottle of champagne left if you want it?" Lola asked me her face smiling.

"I'm alright for now." Relived that she was staying strong. I grabbed her hand and we made our way out.

After following the route we had planned out we finally reached the city.

Lola walked up to a young man and asked where she was.

He laughed at her as though Lola should know.
