"Cece," Sabine whispered, gently shaking her younger counterpart awake. "C'mon, wake up. There's something I need to tell you."
The girl peaked out from under the thin machine cleaner rag she used as a blanket. "Not yet." She mumbled, rubbing her eyes. "It's too early..." Despite herself, the mandalorian smiled. There were times when CeCe acted like the teenager she really was. Over the past few weeks, Sabine had noted that the longtime captive seemed to have changed over the time that she had been there. When she first met CeCe , all she could observe was the deadness in the girl's . The emptiness. Now there was a spark of hope in her emerald eyes. Like something had awakened inside of her, and that she finally realized her fight was not over just yet.
"Get up," Sabine prodded in a singsong voice. CeCe grumbled, obviously not amused at this early wake up, but sat up anyway. Becoming serious, the mandalorian turned towards CeCe. "Hey. I've made a decision, okay?" She whispered into the girl's ear so that no sort of bug could hear them. "I'm going to escape from this place, even if I die trying. And I'm taking you with me."
The girl's mouth dropped open in surprise but before she could say anything, Sabine clapsed her hand over her mouth, signaling her to be quiet. "Wh- what?" She quietly sputtered. "How can we? It's suicide! We're better here, living.."
"No!" Sabine interrupted her, and in a more quiet tone muttered, "CeCe, this cell- this prison , it's not living. You have to realize that. It's hell. We aren't living, we're surviving. And frankly, I would rather die trying to escape, than stay alive like this. Because I know there is more to the galaxy than slaving away for monsters." She squeezed the girl's hands attempting to comfort her.
CeCe stared back at her with frightened wide eyes. "This is the only life I've ever really known!" She muttered, afraid of what Sabine was proposing. "Outside of this prison, there's nothing left for me. Kriff I don't even remember who I WAS before this! What am I going to do after I escape? Die because no one is here to take care of me? I'm clueless about the world out there! All I know is this room! All I really have experienced is this lifestyle!"
The mandalorian pulled CeCe into a tight hug, stroking her hands through the girl's uneven hair. "I'll take care of you, okay? I'll take you back to my family. I'll never leave you, CeCe. I would never do that to you. You may not know but you're too important to me. Whatever happens, I will protect you." She muttered into the girl's ears.
After a moment, CeCe broke out of the embrace, and stared at Sabine, a look of determination now on her face. "Okay." She crossed her arms. "I'll do it. But how?"
*****
It had been a few hours since the two girls had started to work. To any sort of security camera that may be in the room, it looked like they were hard at work, making weapons for the empire. But in actuality, they were building their way out. The Imperials wouldn't know what hit them.
"What are we doing again?" CeCe asked for the 100th time, but Sabine shushed her.
"You'll see," She promised her, as she mixed the certain chemicals that had been provided to them. Sabine knew her way around making explosives, due to the fact that she often made her own back on the Ghost Crew. The plan was, that with the right materials, they could blast through the heavy cell door. Mentally, she scolded herself for not thinking of this sooner. Maybe the shock from the pure murder of the two men by the empire knocked some sense back into her.
"Are you ready with the outer shelling?" Sabine called back to CeCe, who looked up from her work and nodded in response. Quickly stirring two dangerous chemicals together, the explosive artist poured it into a vial, and shook it. Was it risky to do that? Perhaps, but the more she created movement with the chemicals, the more powerful the explosion would be. And they needed as powerful as a boom as they could get to get through those heavy doors.
Note: I am making up this science stuff about making bombs as I go. The chemicals are different from ones here on earth due to the fact that it's in a galaxy far far away, 'kay? Just needed to clear that up.. And I'm not about to go search up "How to build a bomb." Because I'm updating on my school computer and I don't feel like getting in trouble and being sent to the guidance counseler, so yeah... :/
Sabine signaled to her counterpart to bring the outer shell of the bomb to her. When CeCe did, she immeadiately got to work, putting the right ingredients into the explosive,. After a half an hour of craning her neck, and CeCe leaning over her, offering words of advice, she let out a satisfied sigh. "Got it." She exclaimed and turned her head towards the girl next to her. "We're going to want to stand back..." She stated as they pushed the bomb as close to the door as possible.
CeCe obeyed, not questioning anymore. Together, the two half-hobbled, half-sprinted towards the back of the room, behind some heavy machines that would definitely not get blown away in the explosion. The way that Sabine designed it, the explosive could only be powerful enough to blast through hard material in close range.
Sabine shot a thumbs up to CeCe, and slipped on her goggles. The girl nodded in response and mouthed "five, four, three, two, one," and clicked the makeshift controller that was used to set off the bomb.
BOOM!
All of a sudden, the girls were thrown back into the wall behind them, and everything around them rattled terribly. Sabine cracked open her eyes, her back throbbing from hitting the wall, and smiled with pure joy when she saw that part of the door had been exploded off. Stage one was done. Now they had to really escape...
Not wasting a second, she grabbed CeCe by the hand and ran out. A few feet away from the exploded door, a stormtrooper was sprawled on the ground, most likely dead. As soon as she saw this, the Mando grabbed the solider's blaster. This was good. She had defeated loads of bucket heads with less than that. And it also helped that she made a few explosives before hand in case they ran into more trouble. Which they most definitely would.
"Let's go!" She shouted to CeCe, when she heard the thud of storm trooper feet coming closer to them. "Stay close to me, okay?"
As they scrambled through the halls, Sabine could hear that troops were surrounding them. "This way!" She ordered and ran down a hall. Wrong move. Instead of an exit, she found herself face to face with a fleet of bucket heads. Her warrior instincts kicked in, and she blasted a few of them down, and threw an explosive down the corridor. "Go, go, go, go, go!!!" She yelled over all the noise. She pulled CeCe by the arm, and together they bolted away. Behind her, she heard screams and running when the soliders began to fathom what was going to happen and a large boom.
Suddenly, there was more marching from behind her. Before she could register what was happening, she heard a blaster go off, and a thud next to her. Oh no... It was CeCe. On the ground, shot in the stomach, and laying in a pool of her own blood.
Sabine roared out in anger and shot down the remaining stormtroopers, killing many before they even realized what was happening. In a blur of anger, she threw explosives to every corner that troops were coming at her from. She quickly picked up CeCe's light frame and threw her over her back. They would pay...
***
Sabine honestly didn't know how she ended up miles away in a shuttle in space, breathing hard, and with scratches, blood and cuts all along her body. "CeCe?" She yelled when she spotted the girl lying next to her, gasping for breath. "Oh my god... please, no!"
