Something I've noticed: Simmons has been less reckless and getting hurt less often ever since starting to spend time with Rahas. Coincidence? I think not ;) But really I was wondering if there was a correlation between the two, if he's being proactively more careful for Rahas' sake, or it's just coincidence?

Oh, you have good observation skills~

After what happened to Lynus in Cease the Suffering, where he was kidnapped and everyone was racing through the labyrinth to save him, Simmons realised that being an explorer wasn't always all fun and games. Sometimes it was serious. Sometimes a person's life was on the line. And in this case, that someone was sweet and gentle.

After that Cosmos decided to train a little bit more. Gerald was thankful about that. And when Simmons puts his mind to something he can be quite powerful. And when he's determined about something nothing will change his mind.

His true interest in training and becoming stronger was enhanced and understood when he started to grow closer to Rahas. His training became more focused. At first it was because he wanted to be as strong as or stronger than Axel, his rival. But that rivalry was pushed further aside the more time he spent with Rahas.

Simmons is still reckless, there's no denying that, but he's not as reckless as he used to be. He knows now how dangerous the labyrinth really is and he has to take his guild into consideration. Rahas' determination to grow strong to protect others inspires him to do the same. He also wants to be strong for Rahas' sake so he doesn't have to put his life on the line for others (and frankly Rahas wants to do the same for him!).

So in part Rahas is the cause, but Simmons' more cautious behaviour isn't entirely because of him. He plays an important part in his maturity, but it's Simmons' own decision and determination to be a good and reliable explorer that made him want to less reckless with his own life.

And with his dad back in his life he's more determined than ever to be a powerful and reliable explorer and landsknecht. So they can all live happy, fulfilling lives together~
