What's so special about
Footprints in the sand?
They wash away so quickly,
They don't make any difference.
No, footprints never last long.
Even in winter,
When they last longest,
They don't last long enough to be
Noticed or cared about.
Not really.
They stick around for a little while,
Then more snow falls,
And all that's left is a hint of
Where they used to be.
No, footprints in the snow aren't so special.
They're only there for a few months,
And though you can't always see all of them,
You know there were there.
You know that had a somewhat lasting effect.
But it's not enough.
It still doesn't last long.
Footprints in the dirt aren't at all special.
Anyone can leave footprints in the dirt
If they stomp hard enough.
I wanna see someone who leaves
Footprints in stone.
Or at least someone who leaves a crack.
That's not too much to ask,
Is it?
No, I don't think it is.
I used to think footprints were special,
But I didn't think so much back then.
No... I really didn't.
I didn't think so much back then.
