Now don't go jumpin' to conclusions,
I didn't write this for you.
I just wanted to get my feelings
Down on paper.
Okay, so maybe it's about you.
But pay attention,
I didn't write this for you.
I just needed to write how I feel
Every time I see you.
Your crystal-blue eyes,
Your thousands of angels kisses,
Your nearly black hair.
But don't mistake me,
I didn't write this for you.
I just had to remind myself of
Your infuriating smile,
That happy-go-lucky grin,
That impish glint in your eye.
But don't misunderstand me,
I didn't write this for you.
I just needed to write out
Your laugh.
How it sounds so childishly evil,
Yet genuinely amused.
How difficult it is at times
To hear it.
But listen carefully,
I didn't write this for you.
I just needed to get it all
Out in the open.
I need everyone to see
What it is about you that I see.
But don't forget,
I didn't write this for you.
I just need everyone to see you.
Your generous nature that
You hide behind
Jokes and snarky comments.
Your kindness that you
Bury beneath all of your
Sarcasm and snide remarks.
Your heart of gold,
Covered by a layer of
Trodden upon earth.
Don't get me wrong,
I didn't write this for you.
I wrote this for me,
So when I'm old I won't forget.
And this way
No one else will either.
