- Ricky's point of view -

After we played our asses off on stage I took a shower and decided to explore the terrain. I put on a hoodie and pulled down the hood as far as I could. I told the guys where I went and stepped through the gates. I bought a beer and walked towards the Ferris wheel. I saw some people walk in between the trees and wondered where they came from. I followed their direction and discovered a path. Walking down it I suddenly heard an angelic voice. It sounded strangely familiar. There had only been one person to make me feel the way I did about this voice, but it couldn't be her. "Excuse me, who is performing over there?" I asked a couple walking past me. "I don't know, some girl named Jane I think" the girl answered me. I walked on after thanking her.

After strolling down the path I came upon a busy little clearing in the woods. The voice still sounded very familiar, but now I heard some familiar chords and melodies too. The voice was singing my song! "And we're dancing on the finest line. Between the chance of the time of our lives. Wishing you were done. Oh no, gotta run." This couldn't be! I tried to make my way forward. "And we're choosing not to make that choice. And we lose our shoes and voice. But we have a lot of fun on the way, wanna play? Gotta come." I pushed people out of the way, not even bothering to apologize. "May I remind you, may I remind you that you got nowhere to go? So I'm standing beside you, standing beside you 'til you find our way back home." I made my way to the side of the stage and showed the security my wristband. He led me through and I rushed to get better view. My heart pounded in my chest as I saw her.

I watched the rest of her performance in awe. She had grown so much since the last time I saw her. As she finished the last song, she thanked the audience and turned around. I thought she would walk towards me but instead she made her way towards a woman I'd never seen before. She hugged her and started a conversation while she put her guitar back in its case. The woman looked up and caught me staring at Jaime. I met her eyes and her face turned red. "OH MY GOD! LOOK OVER THERE JAIME! IT'S RICKY!" she shouted. I stood there awkwardly as the woman practically ran towards me. Jaime on the other hand walked away, not looking back. "Can we make a selfie? My husband will never believe me" the woman asked. "Of course we can, love. But first tell me your name" I told her. "I'm Lisa and this is ..." she gestured over her shoulder but stopped talking when she noticed Jaime wasn't there anymore. "That's strange, she was just here" she turned back to face me again. "That's alright. I know Jaime." The woman looked at me like I was crazy. "How?" she asked curiously. "If she hasn't told you about me, there must be a reason for that. Would you mind if I speak to her first?" The woman nodded her head. "But first I want my selfie" she demanded.

After taking the picture I followed the woman back to the trailer Jaime and some other small artists shared. "Maybe I'll go in first, ask her why she wandered off so fast" the woman named Lisa said. I nodded and waited outside. I wondered, too, why Jaime had walked away. It took a few minutes before the door opened again. To my surprise Jaime walked out. "No Lisa, you just don't understand" she said while walking past me. Again she walked on not looking back. "She doesn't want to see you for some reason" Lisa walked out and shrugged. Without hesitation I followed Jaime calling out to her. "Jaime would you please stop!" I shouted. Jaime eventually stopped walking but didn't turn around to face me. "Why don't you want to speak to me, or see me for that matter?" I asked. Jaime sighed "It's not that I don't want to see you Ricky. I just don't want to be remembered of the time of my life you were a part of." I didn't see that coming. I walked over to her and put my hand on her shoulder. She stiffened under my touch but didn't move away. "I know it wasn't a great time for you but..." she didn't let me finish. "Not a great time? Ricky it was the most awful time of my entire life. I was beaten up, raped and hooked on drugs. On top of all that I witnessed the murder of my best friend. I... I..." her voice choked. I turned her around to face me. "He isn't dead" I said with a small smile. Jaime looked into my eyes for the first time in ages. "Prove it."
