If you've been reading this rant book thus far, you guys probably know by now that I hate people. No more tip-toeing, no more bullshit: I--hate--people. Some days it's worse than others. Other days I see something and I'm like "wow, maybe people aren't that bad". Then, ladies and gentlemen, I go on YouTube, and my hate is rekindled.
First off, I get annoyed at myself for wasting my time reading the YouTube comments. I have no life and I get bored. So what do I do? I torture myself by reading the YouTube comments. Here's what they consist of:
9% trolls
10% people trying to get the top comment (because that's such a fantastic achievement I guess)
80% people arguing about stupid shit
1% people who just wanna comment or are actually funny
That's how they are on every single video on YouTube. It doesn't matter what you look up. You could be watching a video about a walrus eating popcorn and people in the comments will be arguing about global warming. It's that ridiculous. Do people really have nothing better to do? What's the point of sitting on YouTube, arguing with a random person you never met about something that doesn't matter? I just don't understand. Plus, they get all fired up.
Take, for example, just today. I was watching my favorite movie critic on YouTube review How to Train Your Dragon 2. He said he liked it even better than Frozen. And holy shit, the comments got all controversial.
dumbass125: "Lol I hated Frozen."
captainnolife335: "Ughhh I don't understand people who hate it. You're just hating it for its hype blah blah blah *detailed explanation of why this person they don't know is a disgrace to humanity*
stupidwhore2: "I thought Wreck it Ralph was better."
1,000,000 replies (and all of them are just these three still arguing, with another no-life occasionally jumping in and taking a side)
These assholes realize they're arguing about kids movies right? It's not even like, dystopian movies that say something about government, or anything else that might provoke an argument. They're arguing about kids movies. And here I am, another asshole, who's sitting there reading it because I have nothing else to do. I honestly have no idea why I do this to myself. It's like all of these people are smacking their heads against the keyboard at each other.
They don't know these people, what they're talking about doesn't even matter, and they're spamming up the comments section. No matter who has the better argument, they end up both looking like idiots. It's completely and utterly pointless. What, do they think when they apply for a job the person hiring will be like "well, the only income you've ever earned is allowance from your parents, you have no skills or education, and all you do is sit in your mother's basement playing computer games. But you know what? You beat that one random person on YouTube in an argument about children's animated movies! You're hired! :D"?
I really don't understand why this happens. I understand even less how it drags on for so long! Most of the comments section is people replying to a controversial (well, what they think is controversial anyway) comment. It fills the page. The trolls and people trying to get top comment aren't any better. Of course, these kind of arguments provoke trolls. They probably sit there, think of the most outrageous thing to say, and then amuse themselves by reading all the reactions. Guess what? They don't have any more of a life than me, or anyone who argues. So they got a bunch of losers to argue. Now what? They want a medal? Trolls never made much sense to me either.
Then there's the top comment weenies. They try to say something funny or hipster so that people will click on their like button. I ask again: why? If they actually do get top comment, it doesn't really matter. Do they go and tell their friends? "Yeahhh I got top comment on this video I was watching. Jealous?" Just...no. Plus, no matter how much people like it, it'll get replaced by yet another top comment about two seconds later. Then it matters even less.
Things like the YouTube comments really make me wonder about people...and the internet.
