You once described me as a book so big that I was as thick as a dictionary
And you described yourself as a short story
As if to say there are a million things to know about me and I've already read every page about you

I love poetry
Even the really small poems that could be considered a quote
I will re-read poetry until I memorize the infliction in the authors voice
Until every word is tattooed on my tongue
Till every breath betweens sentences is programmed into my lungs
I love stuff like that
And I love your laugh
And I have read every page that you have let me see
But I will gladly go back and re-read
And I will love every part
And instead of my tongue your words will be tattooed on my heart
I will have you memorized
But I will still look for things that I didnt know
Things that at first you didn't wanna show

You may be a short story
But you will be my favorite book on the shelf
Why reach for a bigger book when there is a chance it could be boring
And you already love that same short story

I promise I will not mistreat you
I will not bend your corners I will keep them standing tall
I will not break your spine holding you open
I will hold you small ajd to my face
Not letting anyone into the small space
I will keep my chest fingers away from your pages
As to be sure not to smudge the masterpiece
You say you are a short story
But you are my favorite book to read
