Short, Fast and Loud

"Woooohooooo!" I jumped out of my seat, waving two 'RMS Titanic' tickets in the air.

"Mikey, Mikey! I've got the tickets, we're going to America!" I then screamed to my little brother, who was staring at the tickets in disbelief.

"Gee... wow..." he managed to mutter back. The portly bartender strode over to us and motioned to the clock on the wall, "Better get going then boys, the boat's leaving in five minutes."

"C'mon, Mikes! Lets go!" We ran as fast as we could through the streets of Liverpool, crashing into people left, right and centre. Shouts of horror as upper-class ladies noticed that they had been touched, contaminated even, by a lowly working-class boy. Some of the ship's crew were pulling the 3rd class entrance closed.

"STOP! WAIT FOR US!" I screamed to them at the top of my lungs, causing them to turn towards us in shock. We ran across the bridge as they reopened the door.

"Almost missed it boys. You have gone through all the checks, haven't you?" The sailor said, with one eyebrow slightly raised. Mikey and I nodded quickly, just wanting to get on board. He sighed at us and motioned for us to get on. I grabbed Mikey's hand and quickly pulled him on board. We ran through the corridors, pushing people out of the way. We turned a corner and found the room we had been given. It was tiny, with a rickety bunk bed in the corner. The walls were undecorated, except a small shelf. There was a tiny desk and stool squeezed against the wall underneath it. A tiny window let a small amount of light in, and for when that light fails, a single light bulb swung gently from the ceiling.

I turned to Mikey and grinned, "C'mon, kid! Lets go see the sea!" We made our way to top deck and strolled along the bow, Mikey trailing behind as I marched along singing 'Oh I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside' obnoxiously loudly and badly. I spun around to face him and yelled, "Loosen up Mikes! Have some fun! We're going to AMERICAAAA!" He grinned at me and shook his head. He sat down on a bench awkwardly, and started pulling pieces of string off his shirt sleeve. I ran back to him and grabbed the biggest string I could find, then used it to tie my long, black hair into a bun. Then I started twirling around and trying to get as good a posture as possible.

"Look Mikey! I'm one of those posh ladies we saw on the way in!"

"Gee... You shouldn't make fun of..."

"It's Lady Way to you, scum! Now, are you going to shine my shoes or not?"

Mikey looked down, obviously embarrassed, "Gerard..."

"I'm just messin' with ya, Mikey! C'mon, lets go look at the water!" I stood up, pulling Mikey with me towards the very front of the ship. I was the more excitable, to say the least. I jumped onto the bars and whooped with joy.

"You coming, Mikes? It feels like I'm flying!" I yelled to him, leaning forward over the barrier.

"No, I'm fine, thanks. Please be care-"

"MIKEY! THERE'S DOLPHINS!" I screamed at him, cutting off his lecture about safety. That got him over to the bars in seconds.

"Oh, wow Gee! They're so majestic!" He was grinning now, the corners of his mouth almost touching his glasses. Seeing him happy made my heart jump a bit.

"They are, aren't they?" I replied, wrapping my arm around his shoulders. I leapt back onto the rails and cried out, "I'm the king of the world!". To my surprise, Mikey joined me whooping at the sight of the endless ocean, ready for us to conquer. I really did feel the king of the world.

-A bit later-

I was sitting on a bench, carefully sketching a young man playing with his daughter. We had talked earlier, only then did I realise how good I was with kids. His name was Kellin, and he seemed very happy with me sketching him and little Copeland. His dark hair often fell over his face, causing him to pull funny faces while trying to blow it back out of his face, often making the young girl laugh. The sun had started to set, and Copeland was getting tired, so Kellin came back over to me.

"Can I see it? Is it finished?" he asked excitedly, his eyes wide. They grew even wider when I showed him the finished product.

"Wow... Mr Way, that's beautiful!" he muttered, cradling a now fast asleep Copeland in his arms.

"Have it, and please, call me Gee. Mr Way makes me sound like a teacher!" I laughed, stroking some of Copeland's golden locks out of her tiny face.

"You have a beautiful child, Kellin. I hope she grows up healthy and strong!" I said softly, trying not to wake her. He smiled and nodded, then walked back towards the 3rd class rooms. I slowly pack my things, getting ready to go back to Mikey. He had gone to bed earlier, as a fight had broken out and he didn't want anything to do with it. It was quite a spectacle, really. A very strong-looking man (I think his name was Andrew... Curley?) and a smaller, faster man who couldn't have been over twenty, who Kellin introduced as Vic Fuentes. Everyone thought Vic would die straight away, but he got a few square punches before they were pulled apart by sailors. I turned to leave.

It was only then I saw him, running across the deck, his face strewn with anger. His black hair swooped down the side of his face, with red sides plastered against his head with sweat. His lip was pierced, with a shiny silver ring looped through. His nose was also pierced, with a silver ring as well. His ears had black plugs. They suited him. Suddenly, a servant ran towards him, yelling at him.

"Mr Iero! Mr Iero! Your father wishes to talk to you!" He almost grabbed his, arm then froze.

"Mr Iero, are you coming?"

"No, and please tell father I do not with to talk with him tonight, especially with so many others around. Also, call me Frank, Mr Iero makes me sound like a teacher!" I smiled to myself, I had said the same thing earlier. Only then did I notice him watching me. I gave him a slight smile and raised my hand to wave. His eyebrows creased into a frown, then he left promptly. I studied the glittering stars one last time before heading inside.

It was a beautiful night.
