Dance, Dance

I quickly made my way to the lower parts of the ship. My mind skipped back to the note I had in my pocket, the one Gerard handed me after dinner. It had read:

To Frank

Get directions to the

3rd class ballroom.

I'll show you what

a real party looks

like.

Sincerely, Gee

As I climbed down a steep set of stairs, the sound of lively music clouded my mind. My eyes immediately darted to Gerard, who was dancing with a little girl. After just a few minutes of watching him, Gerard noticed and waved for me to come over. I walked over and smiled at the tiny child. Only then did I realise it was the girl in Gerard's picture.

"Hi Gee!" I greeted warmly.

"Hey Frank! Copeland, meet Frank, Frank, meet Copeland."

"Hey there, Copeland! Impressive dancing you were doing just then!" I squeaked at her, not sure about how to act around children. Luckily, she smiled cheekily at me.

"Heya Frank!" she giggled happily. I turned to Gerard as he whistled at me.

"So, Frank, wanna dance?" he grinned hopefully at me. I looked around nervously, hoping that no one had heard.

"C'mon, Frank! We're not upper-class, it's only a bit of fun down here!"

"Okay, then, but I don't know how." I replied. Gerard put Copeland back down on the floor.

"Don't worry, Miss Quinn, you're still me number one girl. C'mon Frank, it's easy!" He was practically jumping with excitement. Suddenly, he ran forward and grabbed my waist, twirling me around and around. It was a lot faster and bouncier than the ballroom I was used to, plus, I seemed to be taking the girls part. As the pace quickened, he pulled me up onto a table and started to dance around. When I managed to stop laughing, I joined in, trying to keep up with him. We were surrounded by people who were clapping, who were laughing, who were smiling. It all felt so foreign, yet so natural. It was fun.

When the song ended, Gerard turned and bowed at me. I tried to curtsy, but almost fell flat on my face. Luckily, he caught me just in time. He laughed cheekily, then motioned for me to climb on his back. When I was safely on, he jumped off the table and shot out onto deck. After a few minutes of crazed running, he dropped me off by my room. He blew me one last kiss before running back out into the darkness.
