malia's perspective;

"Morning," Erin chirped, walking into the living room with a bagel in one hand and a cup of smooth orange juice in the other. Her curly brown hair was bunched up at her shoulders and I think anyone who even got a glimpse of how she looked right now could put together all of the events that occurred last night. "How did you sleep?" she asked, taking a bite of the cheese bagel.

"Well, I done a lot of thinking last night and I realised that these walls are awfully thin," I smirked whilst trying to hold back the laugh that was waiting to burst out. "I'm pretty sure the people next door heard you," I leaned over and took a bite of her bagel, trying to distract myself from laughing.

"I'm sorry about that," she giggled and I watched as her cheeks slowly began to turn a soft shade of pink.

"Didn't you two break up a couple of days ago?" I asked.

Erin and Ashton had a weird relationship. One minute they were at each others throats, then the next he was shoving his dick inside of her. He seemed sweet, but Erin thought he was a complete bastard - yet she still had sex with him nearly every night.

"Yeah, but we got back together last night," she shrugged, completely oblivious to the cycle that she had gotten herself into.

"Where is he now?"

"He's still asleep," she smirked, "he must be really tired from last night. "

"That's great to know," I smiled sarcastically as she chuckled lightly to herself.

Erin has been my roommate for nearly 10 months now. When we first moved in together, the large tattoo that scaled across her left arm scared me slightly, but I learned to get used to it. The only thing that I hate about living with her is the unreasonable amount of mess that she makes everywhere she walks.

"I almost forgot, Ashton's friend is having a New Years party tonight, you should come."

"Who, Michael?" I asked, stretching my arms out.

"No, I don't think you've met the guy, his name is Calum," she stopped for a second as she took a sip of her orange juice and then set it back down the on the table, "but I'm pretty sure that Michael is going to be there," she smirked.

Me and Michael had a little thing going on. It wasn't anything serious, in fact it was mainly just cheeky flirting between the two of us. He was a fun guy, but what me and Michael had was strictly just casual flirting.

"You do know that we're not dating?" I asked. Erin and Ash made it their mission to try and get me and Michael to date. It was probably so that we could go on double dates or something stupid like that.

"I know, but you really should! I think you're taking your 'be free' plan a bit too seriously," she explained, bringing the blanket closer to her. It was the last day of December and it was absolutely freezing. I had to sleep with about 5 sweaters on last night.

"You know how I feel about dating, Erin," I sighed. "Someone always ends up getting hurt and I do not want to get hurt."

"No one wants to get hurt, but everyone has to at some point. Heartbreak is like school, everyone hates it but everyone needs it. Are you actually planning on staying single all your life?"

"Of course not, but I'm only 20. I have a lot of time to have fun before I get my heartbroken," I shrugged.

"I just think it's a matter of time before you fall in love with a boy."

"Well, you think too much."

The cold winter breeze brushed against my cheek as I clutched onto my jacket tighter. I gave in to Erin's pleads of making me go to that stupid New Years party even though I really didn't want to. My plans for tonight were to just sit at home with Chinese take out and watch the countdown on tv like I did last year, but obviously that was not the case.
