Chapter Ten~
When I awoke in the morning, I was back under my blankets with them put protectively around me. I smiled to myself then sat up, Briss was still asleep, and his face was turned towards me, his left arm thrown above his head, and his right arm across his chest. His breathing was slow, and he looked at peace. In fact, he looked like a little boy. His expression was lax, his eyebrows soft, his mouth slightly ajar. He looked as if there was not a care in the world. It made me smile, looking at his peaceful expression, but I quickly shook my head, clearing my thoughts. I shouldn't be thinking this way. Why should it matter how he looks in his sleep? I'm sure everyone looks that way.
He shifted and groaned, his left arm now covering his eyes. "Is it morning..?" he mumbled.
I giggled at his silly question. "Yeah. Time to get up, we should probably be going now,"
He groaned and rolled over onto his stomach.
"Come on Briss! What happened to adventure!!!??" I exclaimed as I shoved him.
He laughed slightly. "I am not a morning person,"
"I've noticed...now come on, we have to go,"
He slowly sat up onto his knees and rubbed his eyes. His hair was a jumbled mess, and I could only assume that mine looked worse. I rolled up my blanket and put it in my pack. I took Briss's blanket and packed it as well. I helped as much as I could with taking down the tent, and I helped him stuff it into his bag as much as possible.
We then headed out of the cluster of trees and continued in the direction we did yesterday, in complete silence. The sun was not hot, but it was warm enough to make us slightly uncomfortable.
"Do you know how far the hill is?" Briss asked after awhile.
"No...I'm sure we'll know when we get to it though,"
He nodded and we continued walking in silence. It's not as if there was much to say, and the silence was not awkward. It never was between us.
"Briss..."
"Yeah?"
"What do you think Delst and Amelia are going to do? Now that we're gone?"
He sighed. "They'll probably get married. I know my sister will worry about me. I don't know you brother very well, but from the time I've spent with him, I know he'll be pissed off at us both. You for leaving, and me for encouraging you I'm sure,"
"Yeah. You think they'll get married?!"
"Yeah, of course I do. They so..in love, that it's basically inevitable,"
He was probably right. About the wedding and Delst. I knew he was right about Delst. "And Grandmother? Do you think she'll come too?"
"That's not something I need to think about. I'm sure you can answer that yourself Neera," He said, chuckling slightly. I glanced at him and saw him smile at me. "Why are so concerned about them anyways? We're leaving that behind,"
"Touche. I just...a part of me wants to forget it all, and completely move on, but another part of me wants to remember. And since Mother's death, that part of me is stronger than the other. And I can't just forget Grandmother,"
He nodded understanding. Suddenly he stopped and pointed ahead of us. "Do you see that in the distance?"
I squinted my eyes and looked ahead of me. In the distance I saw a faint grey mound above the horizon. It didn't look large or small from this distance, it looked like a medium height, though taller than the both of us.
