"Bye Tiff!" I yelled back at my long-time friend.

She invited me out to lunch after almost two months without seeing each other. She's a newlywed & her husband, Shaun, insisted that they travel to Europe for their honeymoon.

I climbed into my 2014 Toyota Camry and threw my bag into the passenger seat.

Moving to Atlanta was a hard decision for me, considering I'd lived in Arkansas all my life. But being 24, single & full of life, I figured hey, why not? I graduated from the University of Arkansas with my degree in Journalism & decided to move to Atlanta to further my career. I got a job at a well-known magazine stationed here as a fashion editor and so far, I was loving it. I was able to move into a nice, modest house and buy myself a car. I must say being a independent woman was a pretty damn good feeling.

I came home and changed into my Victoria's Secret PINK tank top & shorts. I made myself an ice cream sundae and settled into my couch in the den. I watched a bit of Pretty Little Liars before my doorbell rang. I grabbed my house robe and walked to the door.

"Harmony, darling! How are you?" My co-worker, Arabella, greeted, inviting herself in.

Arabella was the definition of pure British gorgeousness. She had long, bone-straight blond hair. Her almond brown eyes and beautiful ivory skin was just too much to bear. She was also supermodel tall, a good 5'11. She just oozed sex appeal.

"I'm fine, what are you doing here?" I asked.

She chuckled. "Well, you don't waste any time. But if you must know, we are covering the biggest party of the year this weekend." She flashed me a toothy grin.

"What party?" I replied, clueless.

"Only Mr. Ludacris' Memorial Day Bash. Anyone whose anyone is attending and Jane chose me and you to go and cover the event."

I smiled right along with Arabella. "Oh my, what are we going wear?"

"Guess that's the cue for a shopping spree?" Arabella smirked.

After a 4 hour shopping spree and dinner with Arabella, I was exhausted. I made my way home and was walking into my house when my phone rang. I locked the door behind me and answered.

"Hello?" I responded.

"Harmony? Baby, when are you going to come home?" My mother replied.

I giggled. "Mom, I told you I wasn't coming back to Arkansas. I've made my home here in Georgia." I preceded to make my way upstairs to my bedroom.

"But I'm so lonely here. You know Anthony is a senior now so he's never home and ever since I brought Lauren her car, she's not home either." She whined.

I rolled my eyes. "That's just part of growing up, ma. They're going to want some freedom, nobody wants to be lied up under their mom all day when they're in high school." I joked.

She laughed along with me. "I know, but I really do miss you guys and you know I've been craving attention ever since..." she stopped.

"It's okay. We've all had to deal with dad's death too."

My dad passed away 3 days after Christmas last year from a heart attack. My mom was devastated. We all took it hard, but none of us like mom. She met my dad her freshmen year of college, and according to her, they were in love instantly. They married after college and have been ever since. They were married for 32 years until his untimely death.

"Yeah, I'm just not used to being without him. It's just not the same." She sniffled.

"I understand, ma." I sighed. "But I tell you what; after this weekend, I'll take a week off and come see you, okay?"

I could feel her smile through the phone. "That'll be nice, that'll be real nice."

"Alright, I'll talk to you tomorrow though mom. I had a long day."

"Okay honey, I love you."

"I love you too." I hung up.

I removed my sandals and went into my bathroom to run a bubble bath. I tied my hair up and wiped off my makeup. I bathed and then went to sleep.
