Harmony
I slid on my fuzzy shorts and socks. As I put my hair into a high ponytail, I thought about what I should do about this person that kept texting Aubrey. Throughout the whole day, he was so focused on his phone. I hope he know that I'm well educated and knows he isn't texting his manager all throughout the day like that.
I sighed and walked out the bathroom.
"Can I come to Atlanta for the summer?" Lauren smiled at me as she laid across my bed.
"Of course," I said. "We'll have lots of things to do if you came too."
"I mostly wanna visit Spelman." She was silent before she spoke again. "Harms?"
I looked up at her. "Yeah?"
"How do you know when you've found the one?"
I sighed. "I don't know if I can answer that, Lo."
"Isn't Aubrey the one?"
I opened my mouth to speak but Aubrey popped his head in the door.
"Ma said y'all can come to the theater now, the movie finna start."
I forced a small smile. "Alright, thanks. We're coming."
He shut the door.
"We can finish this later okay?"
Lauren nodded. "Alright."
We walked downstairs to see Anthony, his girl Krystal, & Aubrey all having a conversation.
"Where's your boo thang?" I nudged Lauren.
She smirked. "He's on his way. He's probably just late cause he nervous."
Ma walked from the back where the movie theater was. "10 minutes you guys. The snacks are on the table & the drinks are in the cooler."
Anthony walked towards Lauren and I with Krystal.
"Sis, this is Krystal. Krystal, this is my big sister Harmony I was telling you about."
She extended her hand to me. "It's a honor to meet you. I met your boyfriend already."
Krystal actually wasn't bad-looking at all. She had burgundy hair that stopped at her upper back, big hazel eyes and a shiny caramel complexion.
I smiled. "Nice to meet you as well."
There was a knock at the door.
"That's Jason." Lauren said, walking to the door.
Aubrey had joined us as Lauren disappeared down the corridor.
"You good?" He said, slinging his arm around my shoulder.
I faked a smile. "Fine."
I still wasn't talking to him from earlier, but I was just going to fake it for the evening.
"We should head to the theater now." Anthony said, grabbing onto Krystal's hand.
"Yeah, you ready?" Aubrey asked me.
I nodded and followed them to the movie. We stopped at the table where we gathered our snacks and was joined by Lauren and Jason.
We settled into our seats and waited for Ma to start the movie.
"What are we watching?" Lauren asked, as she shoved a handful of M&M's in her mouth.
"Best Man Holiday."
"Oh yeah, me & my ma watched this at the movies. It's really good." Jason said.
Ma dimmed the lights and took her seat at the front and started the movie.
Aubrey was laying on my shoulder halfway through the movie when his phone started vibrating. He held the phone up to his face when I seen it was the same number from earlier.
"I gotta take this." He pecked my lips and got up and walked out.
I rolled my eyes. I thought about following him then decided against it. I continued to watch the movie. Anthony tapped my shoulder.
"You good?"
I nodded. "I'm fine. Thanks."
He slid next to me into Aubrey's seat.
"You sure? You know I dont play about big sis."
I giggled. "I'm good. If I wasn't, you know I'd let you know."
He hesisted for a second then sighed. "Aight." He slid back to his girlfriend.
I ate some gummy worms and watched the rest of the movie. When the movie was over, we all gathered in the living room.
"Where's Aubrey?" Lauren asked.
I gave her a small smile. "He had to take a call, he'll be back."
"How was the movie, everybody?" Mama asked.
"I loved it. The storyline was pure genius." Anthony said.
"I know, and I cried when Mia died. I knew it was coming but when it happened, it was just so sad." I added.
We were all discussing our reactions to the movie when Aubrey finally walked back in.
"Aubrey, you're back. You missed the end of the movie though." Mama frowned.
"I'm so sorry ma. I had a business call. I'm sure it was good though." He smiled.
I rolled my eyes and went upstairs. I was brushing my teeth when Aubrey walked in the room.
"Boy, my manager can sure talk my ear off." He chuckled.
I sighed as I began to gargle my mouthwash. He came up behind me and kissed my cheek. "Two days here then we're back at home."
"Yep. Back to work I go." I dryly stated.
"That's wasn't what I was referring to." He began to kiss my neck.
I gently pushed him off me then walked back into the bedroom.
"Harms? What's up? The movie wasn't good or something?"
I shook my head. "Nah, I just got a slight headache." I lied.
"Oh," he sighed. "So you going to sleep?"
"Yeah, I think I'm sleeping in tomorrow too."
"Okay. I'm finna take a shower and I'll be right back." He came over and kissed my lips then went to the bathroom.
As soon as he locked the bathroom door, I went to Lauren's room. I knocked on her door.
"Come in." she called out.
I walked in as she sat up in her bed.
"What's up?" she smiled.
I looked at her with tears in my eyes.
"Harm? Harm, what's wrong?" She said with worry in her eyes.
I locked the door and ran into my little sister's bed and hugged her crying.
"I think he's cheating on me, Lo." I managed to get out.Harmony to the side.
