She sat on the hardwood floor. Tears stained her cheeks.

No, she wasn't crying anymore. She'd let out enough tears, and she didn't have any more in her. She felt more exhausted now, instead of crying.

She saw it happen. The bullet pierced her heart the same way her mom had, less literally. The horror of seeing the woman who had raised her, and then still came back after her sentence, instead of leaving her with-

Him.

He did this. He caused her this misery. He extinguished the beautiful flame that was her mother. The woman who loved her when no one else would.

Then he came along. At first, she hated him, and then another person, who she wasn't worthy ofs love, still loved her. He still did, but, she wasn't as sure as she once was.

This trauma from the accident was going on for at least a year now, and Wally was becoming more distant. He told her he just needed a...break, that's what he said.

She couldn't blame him. She was surprised he hadn't left by now. The constant nightmares, the crying, the grief, and the guilt- it was so much to handle. And he was getting tired, she was holding him back from his life.

She could see it. She knew it. That fling in his eyes that he used to get when he looked at her, was hidden, it was fading out. He wanted to do things, not stay at home and comfort a little girl who was grieving too much.

But she'd held it back for so long, all of the pain she'd witnessed, even endured, in her life. She'd stayed strong, but her mothers death, that was the funding point.

She was broken. And no one could pick up the pieces.

She was a burden. And she didn't want to hold him back anymore.

He taken these breaks more often, she'd break down, and he'd leave to think, not wanting to be left picking up the pieces. It's not that he didn't love her, just, it was ya s strong as it used to be.

It was fading. They both knew it.

She traced her fingers along the broken glass of the photo. Her and her mom the first day she'd come back from prison. She had this huge speech that made no sense on how she was sorry and would try harder, Artemis had no idea what it meant, but she instantly forgiven her because she tried.

But the thing is, she knew she wasn't worth trying anymore. Wally showed it. She didn't want to hold him back. He didn't love her anymore, she was too broken.

But she'll be strong. A loner. She always been one. Wally could go live his life, find someone he was worth, instead of her.

But she could never stop the tears that continued to fall. Her life was too messed up.

The cold winter air of the city filled his lungs as he walked along the sidewalks. He was just so tired.

She just sat there, and dint do anything with her life. She should've just moved on by now.

He still loves her, he thinks. It's just getting harder and harder to stop her crying every night after a nightmare, when sometimes, he just wants to sleep.

He thinks this is the last time, he'd leave after this.

He stopped by his parents, not wanting to go home to Artemis. "Mom, Dad, I'm home." He said.
