BEFORE THE ACCIDENT:
The phone rang. He knew it wasn't his alarm, it was too early in the morning for it to go off. He stretched his hands to the table beside his bed and opening his eyes slowly he saw the caller before answering the call.
What was it again?"What?" He asked.
"Such rude remarks this morning. Why? Did I disrupt something," Sahib asked.
"Your reason for waking me up this early better be good."
"I don't think you'll be going back to sleep though after you hear what I have to say."
"Cut the chase and go straight to the point."
"I changed my mind. I don't want to just ride around, I want you to organize a small Sibaq Khuyul." And the sleep totally cleared as he sat up on his huge king sized bed.
"You can't be serious. Why would you suddenly want a Sibaq Khuyul? Don't you know it takes almost half a year to plan it. Besides, it's not time for it yet."
"That's why I said a small one and I'm doing it for the fun of it,"
"You can't be serious Sahib. Just for the fun of it?" He was confused. Just what side of the bed did he wake up from.
"I'll have to apologize for the stress, but then again, you're the one that choose to be stable master. So, just make it small, with a few of our brothers participating. Nothing too serious. The queen dowager is not even invited, just to show you how small the game is going to be. I just really want to participate in the game. It's been so long since I last participated in one and I hear our brothers have gotten better in horse riding especially Khaled."
"Is this because of her, because you want to make her feel better after the beating she got because of you?" That was the only explanation. There was no other explanation for his sudden behavior. Just like him, Sahib was not really a fan of horse racing, not since losing to him.
"I do want to show her the extent of my power but seriously, I'm just doing it because I feel like it." Sahib replied.
Asad was quiet for a while as he thought of how he'd use the game to his advantage.
"Fine. But I have a condition."
"You know you're simply supposed to obey me."
"Will you listen or not?" Asad asked impatiently.
"Fine, what is it?" Sahib asked. And Asad rose from the bed and walking to the window, he said,
"I'll participate in this small game of yours..."
"I do not app..." he too was interrupted.
"Let me finish Sahib." Asad said as he drew the huge curtains. "I'll participate in the Sibaq Khuyul and if I win, you'll grant me my request, in your position as Sultan."
Sahib then laughed out loudly. "You know it's not like the past when you won easily. I've gotten better since then."
"I know. However, this time, I'm not after your concubine."
Silence. The only thing Asad could hear was Sahib's breath.
