He stared into the dark, at the stall Zaafir once stayed. It was empty, it was dark, it was gloomy. The last time Arabia was turned upside down like this was when their father died. Before then was when Zaafir's mother died and during both times, if Sahib wasn't in his usual murderous state, then he was alone, probably in the library, probably drinking himself to death or torturing himself somehow.
This time around, he was all of the above, both murderous, drunk, torturing himself and sick. He hadn't recovered from the fall and the situation of things made matters worse. For a few days now, he had being bedridden in his secret room where no one was allowed or even knew about, save Ameena who acted as his doctor and his nurse all at the same time. That woman was surely a busy woman, taking care of Sahib and Sahiba at the same time.
Sahib must have been really shocked. Zaafir, his best friend and family died at the hands of the woman he wanted the most. No wonder he almost went mad, killing, drinking and finally falling ill. After all the threat, he still couldn't pull the trigger and kill Sahiba.
He was grateful that at the very least, he too liked her to the extent that he kept her alive after she took the one thing he valued the most asides from his family. And the door of the stables opened and someone was dragged in and thrown roughly on the floor beside him.
"Sire, we have her," one of the guards said.
And his rage returned.
He turned towards her, grabbed her and holding her tightly, smashed her body against the wall with her head taking the most impact."How could you? How could you. I trusted you, I gave you all of my sincerity, gave you all the care and respect I'd ever given anyone. So, how could you," He asked trembling in rage.
"She...s...she was leading you astray. Leading you away from me," she cried.
"Muizzat!" He shouted as he slapped her making her fall flat on the ground still screaming. "I took you as a sister and treated you better than I would my blood sisters and you stab me at the back."
"He...he was going to kill us. He was definitely going to kill us."
"You could have died as a way of being appreciative of all I've done for you."
"I'll die for you but not her."
"Dying for her is the same thing as dying for me."
"Asad?" She said holding her slapped cheek in shock.
"Don't you ever call me by my name again. It's Your highness."
She was still visibly shocked and the tears flowed freely.
"Do you really have her in your heart? Do you really love her so much, so much as to make me die in her place."
"What I feel for her is no longer any of your concern."
"I...I love you Asad, I always have ever since the day I first set my eyes on you and you've always known it. And then she came, a stranger, a new girl. Someone you've barely known for a few months. She just came in slowly and now has your complete heart, your complete being. You've now pushed me to the side and even forgot Laila. Even Laila was pushed to the side because of her, because of that stranger."
He was silent.
"I do not regret my actions. I'll never regret my actions and even if I was faced with the same situation, I'll do the same thing over and over again."
He curled his fist in a ball as he tried to calm himself down.
"I should never have brought you here, I should have left you where you were and not be concerned about you. Sahiba was right. I should never have trusted you. You, who knows me better than most. But this is it. This is the end of the line for us, the end of our relationship. From now on, we are strangers, no, enemies. You will pack your bags immediately and leave this palace and never return."
