She's not in the house. Then she must've run outside. I slip on my shoes quickly and run outside. I can see some faint footprints in the snow and I follow them. It's either she sprinted as fast as Usain Bolt or I spent too long in the house. I've been running for maybe five minutes now, and I still can't find her. I'm not a slow runner. I just have bad stamina. I can feel my legs weakening, but I don't let myself stop. There's a falter in my step but I keep going. A twinge of soreness in my calves, but I continue.

Time passes quickly, but I still can't find her. The footprints continue. I groan. I have to run faster. I run as fast as I can, but at a paced speed, so I won't run out of energy within two seconds. And then I see it. The footprints that are barely covered in any snow. The hope fills up inside of me and I get a burst of new energy, following them.

When I see her, she's at a light jog. I call out to her. She either doesn't hear me or is actively ignoring me. Judging by the fact that she begins to run faster, she's probably ignoring me. I shake my head slightly, then try running even faster to catch up with her. And I do. I grab her by the shoulders so she can't move anymore. I adjust and wrap my arms around her, then turn her around so she's facing me.

         "Tiffany-"

"You were right," she forces my hands off of her. "You were right."

         "About..."

"I'm not happy in this relationship," she shakes her head. "Clearly, since I've cried at least once each day I've seen her."

"But why?" I ask. "Why would she do something so horrible to you?"

"You don't even know the half of it."

"You can talk to me," I nod slightly. "You can trust me."

"I guess she just... she just got too impatient. She didn't want to wait anymore. But she's smart. She has her resources. I'm her girlfriend. There's a reason for that, you know? She likes me. She thinks I'm physically attractive. She can't just... fuck anyone, you know?" Tiffany looks at me, tears in her eyes.

         "What do you mean?"

         "I have a twin brother, that's what I mean."

         "What? How could she--"

"They've been hanging out a lot, recently. I thought she was just getting to know him, because if the two of us ever got married, she'd have to know him."

         "Oh."

"But it turns out that they were just...." she sighs.

"Tiffany, I..." I don't know what to say, so I just hug her. Her arms stay by her sides and that's okay. She rests her head on me and cries. I let go slowly and she just looks at me. She leans towards me and I feel her forehead as it presses against mine, the tip of her nose as it bumps against mine. At this moment, the space between us is so small. At this moment, our faces are so close together. As are our lips. She pauses for a moment, her hand on my jaw and on my neck. I can feel my heart beating in my chest. She pulls away. The feelings linger. She does not.
