I stare at the ground in front of me. Dumbfounded. Silent. His words echo through my mind.

"She would never let me tell the world what she's done."

I blink a couple of times and neither of us speaks for a while.

         "I love you."

         There's another short silence.

         "But she doesn't," Andrew mumbles.

         "What?"

         "I love you, too."

         It's silent again.

"I hope you don't mind me asking, but... What do you mean 'what she's done'?"

I can feel his body tense up against mine.

"Things happen, I mean..." he sighs. "Nothing is perfect. No one is perfect. I should just let it go and stop being so caught up in things."

I frown. I feel his grip loosen around me and he hesitates for a moment before letting go. I step back from him and look up into his eyes.

"I love you. You're literally the best person in my life."

"I-I think best is an overstatement--"

He grabs my hand suddenly, cutting me off. Looking me directly in the eyes, he takes the tiniest step towards me. Then he drops my hand and turns around. I'm sure the thoughts running through my mind are running through his as well, and I can't help but feel some sense of nostalgia. Or sadness.

         "I'm sorry."

I stand there for a moment, silent, then speak.

"You don't need to apologize," I shake my head and place my hands on his shoulders, turning him around. "I mean, life is different now."

"Hey. You think if everything were the same, just we hadn't met Tiffany, we'd be dating?"

         I laugh. "As if."

         "Ugh. Do you remember grade-"

"Shut your mouth before I fucking commit homicide."

         He laughs. I laugh too.

"Why don't we talk about that more?" he asks.

"Because it was terrible, Andrew, what are you talking about?"

"Ouch," he presses his hand to his chest. "That hurt."
