"Elle, you okay?" I hear from beside me. I turn and look at Tiffany. She looks concerned.

         "Uh y-yeah," I nod. "I'm fine."

"Are you sure?" she asks, worry clouding her usually soft and sweet voice.

"I... Here," I bite my tongue, then hand my phone to her. I watch as her eyes skim over the text messages.

"Oh my God," she furrows her eyebrows, scrolling through the texts. "That's not okay."

"What's up?" Irene asks, keeping her eyes on the road.

"Well..." Tiffany glances at me. "I think it'd be better if Ellie said it herself."

There's a pause and Irene looks at me expectantly through the mirror.

"So I kinda used to like my roommate. When I first met him he was sweet and all but when we found out that the feelings were mutual, things started to go downhill. So, like, we went on a few dates and neither of them ended well. He's visiting his family right now and he just told me that they were asking if he had a girlfriend or anything, and he said that I was his girlfriend. And I texted him back telling him that we weren't dating and that we'd be better off as friends. Then he got pissed off and stuff. And he's kind of salty around Tiffany because he thinks she's super into me and trying to convince me not to date him and to date her instead, so he blamed what I said about not being compatible on Tiffany. And now he's out to get her."

"Damn, he sounds like a dick," Irene frowns slightly, and I can see it in the mirror.

"He kind of is..." I bite my lip. "Can we talk about something else?"

         "Oh, sure," Irene nods.

Tiffany hands my phone back to me, and I look at the screen. He's typing something. I pretend to listen to whatever Tiffany and Irene are talking about as I stare at my phone, waiting, and then the bubble disappears.

We arrive at our destination and Irene parks the car. She steps out and so do Tiffany and I. I watch as Irene approaches a girl who is walking towards the car. Her shoulder-length bob bounces as she walks towards Irene. When she gets there, she attempts to hug Irene but her attempts are thwarted when Irene instead leans in for a kiss. The two of them share the kiss for a moment until Irene pulls away.

"Oh, Tiffany, you're here!" she says in an upbeat, bubbly voice. Her eyes fall onto me.

"That's Ellie," Irene says. "I'd like to say she's Tiffany's girlfriend, but the situation is a tiny bit complicated."

"Yeah, I'd like to say that, too," Tiffany mumbles under her breath. I look at her and her cheeks turn pink. Fuck. She's adorable.
