Chapter 14:

(Aria's POV)

“Where are you taking us?” I asked Leon since he seemed to be the one in charge at the moment. Leon had blindfolded us and was pushing Arrow and I down what I guessed was a hallway.

“The Princess has some questions for you.” He grunted. He seemed to be in a pretty bad mood so I stopped myself from asking more questions.

We stopped walking abruptly and I felt Leon let go of my arm and heard some shuffling before there was a click sound. Leon roughly grabbed onto my arm again and pulled me to the side. My shoulder slammed into something hard creating a sharp pain in my shoulder. I bit on my lip to hold in the gasp and the not so nice words I wanted to tell Leon. I figure that wouldn't be a good start to things.

“Cuff her to the chair and then you may leave Leon.” I heard a female voice say. Suddenly I was pushed down into a chair and I felt cold metal on my wrists before the blindfold was yanked off my head.

I had to blink a few times to adjust my eyes to the bright light. I was in a small, gray room. I was seated at a table in a wooden chair with handcuffs binding me. Across from me sat a woman with red hair, she looked very professional as she placed her hands folded in front of her on the table. There was a mirror behind her but other then that there was nothing else in the room. They must of taken Arrow somewhere else.

“I am Princess Maya. In case you haven't been filled in, you are currently being held in the dungeons of The Kingdom for attacking Kingdom soldiers. Now, I'm going to ask you some questions and I expect you to answer them truthfully. For starters, what's your name?” Maya asked me with a raised eyebrow. Her blue eyes bore into me as I thought of what to say.

Figuring there's really no reason to lie about my name I answered truthfully. “Aria.”

“Very good.” She commented as she wrote something down on a piece of paper. “We captured you with some other people, are you with them?”

“Yes, I’m their leader.” I'm not sure why I added the last part, maybe pride or maybe because I felt that I had to protect them.

Her head whipped up from her paper to look at me. “You are?” I could see the curiosity in her eyes as she stared at me. What's with these surface people questioning me every time I say I’m the leader? Why is it so hard to believe that I could lead a group of people?

“Yes, I am. Why is that so hard to believe? First that James guy, now you. Do I not look like leadership material?” I asked her, needing an answer.

“Lets just say there aren't a lot of female leaders around here.” She said with an eye roll. There aren't? Why would there only be male leaders? “Wait, you said the name James. Do you mean King James, my brother?” She asked suddenly, interrupting my thoughts.

“He was a guy we met in a cave that we sought for shelter from a storm. He didn't look much like a king, just some jerk riding one of those bike things.” I said remembering that arrogant jerk. “He was arrogant enough to be a king though.” I snorted.

Maya stayed quiet for a while, consumed in her own thoughts. “Yeah that sounds like my brother.” She finally spoke up. “Interesting. You are a women leader and you already hate my brother, this is very fascinating.” Quickly she wrote some things down on a sheet of paper then stood to her feet and clapped her hands together. A few seconds later Leon came through the door and stood at attention.

“I want you to start her on Project Alpha. I’ve wrote down here the injections Dr. Connors is to give her and follow up directions.” She spoke to Leon as if I wasn't even in the room. At the word 'injections' my heart started to race and hands became sweaty. What are they going to do to me?
