Leonard's birthday was tomorrow. He would be 17, he and Pru had always said they would make it a special 17th birthday.

But now she wasn't there.

She was still in a coma.

10months and 27 days had passed, he was getting worried she wouldn't ever wake.

But he had hope.

She would wake up. She would wake up and wish him a happy belated birthday and buy him the puppy he had always wanted.

She would.

She promised.

It wasn't like he wanted the puppy all that much, he just wanted her to wake up, and the puppy would be proof she made it.

They were going to go to their little place in the forest and have lunch, then they would go to the adoption centre and pick him out a puppy.

Leonard struggled with the fact that for the first time in his life his sister wouldn't be there for his birthday. He decided that tomorrow he would buy himself a cupcake, add a candle and then visit her.

That way she could be there.

Leo didn't have many friends, he was much like his sister in that aspect. It had always been that way. That's probably why the two were so close. They were both broken and had both suffered so much. Even if Leo was 8 when he and Prudence had left for their new apartment, he still suffered. He was just lucky enough to have someone to look after him and stop the suffering, Prudence wasn't as lucky.
