Prudence had been in hospital now for 11 months and 7 days. She had woken up 2 days prior and was now recovering. Now and then she would be asked something and realised she didn't know the answer.Example: her brother had asked when she would return to work but she didn't realise she had a job.
Example: the doctor asked her age, she said she didn't recall.
The seemingly insignificant things that had once mattered now seemed far from it.
She tried to remember, she had tried so hard.
But she couldn't.
She felt like she failed.
But she could remember the promise she made her brother for a puppy.
That she could recollect without thinking about it.
She would buy him a dog.
After everything that has happened he deserved it.
He deserved to be happy.
He didn't deserve to be alone.
