Cerberus stared at me hungrily with his three sets of eyes. His three mouths were drooling. It wasn't helping that his snake tail was darting from left to right. None of us moved. I mean what can you do when something a goddess couldn't beat was hungry for you? Worse, a goddess with an army.
But I was angry. In the last fifteen minutes I had been attacked by three enemies and now my supposed savior was about to devour me. I was sick of being a target and being betrayed.
Cerberus roared and I roared back. I lost my cool, charging at him at full speed. I wasn't thinking about anything at the time, but my body did the talking. The Nyx defense flared at once as the snake came down at me. I rolled away and flicked my wrist. The Nyx whip appeared in my hand and I flicked it on the snakes head. It recoiled, but I was paying too much attention to the snake that I didn't see the paw coming at me. For a moment I figured 'Hey; the Nyx defense will protect me' but nope. The paw slapped me at full force, and I went flying into the side of a house.
I sank down to the ground. Something was broken, and I was too dazed to move. Cerberus could've taken one step and eaten me. As I thought that, he did just that and I thought I was a goner.
But at the last moment, Psyche stepped in front of me and yelled. "Stop!"
Cerberus stopped and looked at Psyche. It hesitated probably because one of its heads used to protect Psyche. The heads recoiled at Psyche.
"Go now!" She shouted. When Cerberus didn't listen, she shouted the same words again and it faded into the shadows.
My head spun. Psyche turned to look at me and yelled at the others to come help. No sound entered my ears as my head rolled but I'm sure I saw a car pull up and a handsome guy step out before I passed out.

Darkness and then beauty. Godly beauty. A woman appeared before me looking so beautiful that she definitely was a goddess. But for a moment I hesitated because she looked a lot like me but older. No, not me, my mother. Yes, she looked a lot like my mother, but she radiated darkness and her eyes, her pitch black eyes that reminded me of black holes, ruined the picture. And the fact that I knew her.
"Nyx." Was all I could whisper at the goddess. She cocked her head to the side.
"You'll eventually need my power, Nightling and when you do I'd like you to think very carefully about how you'll beg me for power." She smiled and then dissolved into a flock of birds. Which type I didn't know.
"Wait, why will I need your powers?" I shouted into the void. The dream changed, and I was facing a world divided into three parts.
The three corners, each corner containing a different element. One had a raging thunderstorm with lightning, the other a raging sea and the last, an earthquake destroying cities. I was in the middle of it.
Two teenagers who looked very different from one another (probably eighteen) stood in the thunderstorm and sea storm. They were obviously brothers, both staring at me intently like I was an interesting specimen or target. In a moment I thought the storms would suddenly overwhelm me but nothing. Then the earthquake spread from its corner until it split the earth and I fell.
I passed rocks and lava as I fell and then suddenly I was standing atop of a massive boulder overlooking the pathway or what it resembled. It was jagged and pitched at an odd angle. Jagged rocks shot out in weird locations and the trail was too slippery to not fall and impale yourself. Nonetheless, there was somebody down there, somebody I couldn't make out.
"Do you enjoy it?" said a familiar voice to my left. "Enjoy the world above while others suffer here in Tartarus?"
I turned and saw Jake or rather Hades. His stark white hair and red, black eyes staring through me with hatred burning in them. I wanted to move away, but I was scared of falling off the boulder.
So this was Tartarus. When I learned that Nyx was my ancestor, I asked to learn more about her and grandpa Ted and the others obliged. Nyx was a primordial goddess before the Olympians and lived in the void under Tartarus. Her children resided throughout the different realms but most were in Tartarus. It was the pit of damnation, that's what the gods called it and it definitely looked like hell.
I turned my attention back to the figure in the darkness. I could see her clearly now, a battered girl, crawling through the path but in a change of angle I could identify her. It was Caitlyn, host to the goddess of Persephone. Earlier this year we had fought her, and she ended up falling into Tartarus. I never thought about her but it was clear Jake and Hades still did.
"You banished my queen here; you sentenced her to eternal damnation and now," Hades threw me a look of vengeance. ", you'll pay the price godling. Oh, this year will be different."
Then Hades pushed me off the boulder and suddenly I was awake.
Toni and Psyche sat next to me in an airy room. Luke and Daniel were nowhere in sight. I sat up, and Toni took notice, gasping.
"You're finally awake." She said relieved. Psyche gave a small smile, looking tired.
"You have a visitor." She said lightly. At first I thought it was Jake or more like hoping but my hopes were crushed when the man turned around.
He approached me slowly and smiled sadly, "Hello Zoe Nyx, I can see the dream world has put its weight on your shoulders but where are my manners?"
He extended a hand, "My name is Thanatos, god of Death."
