I shook from anger. Angry that that attack had done nothing to him. Angry that I needed to make a plan on how to end Hades.
The purple haze faded and Hades straightened himself. He pulled Athena's spear out from his body and threw it away. He looked down at the battlefield and sneered.
"Highly unlikely but a precaution was made." He said referring to the goddess. He flicked his hand and the dead warriors all disappeared.
Almost immediately the fallen started standing and cheering but I wasn't too sure. I knew Hades had another plan. He stared down at the battlefield, his eyes analyzing the number of Remnants. Then he looked at me from the corner of his eye, and I knew the real battle was starting.
Just one second of eye contact had me shaking. His eyes were changing from normal white and black to the red and black that was always known as Death. It was transforming so fast that when it actually zeroed in on me, it had finished.
"Now let us begin." He turned so fast to us, sucked his breath in and blew out fire.
I'm not talking just like a puff. I'm talking full out fire storm so hot and fast that the roots immediately went ablaze. I leaped off quickly, my purple flames focusing on my feet, not caring how high I was. In that moment, I realize that it was time to hand over the reins and so I did. Nyx was instantly in the driver seat and then we were resting on the side of a building.
In a blink, my arms were raised blocking the hardest kick ever. That being said I still went flying and I saw Hades doing a cartwheel and launching off the building like superman, breaking some windows, flying into me to give me another earth shattering punch... But wait there's more.
Because my arms diverted the punch and threw one into him, propelling each other in opposite directions. Last minute, I did a flip and landed, skidding to a stop on the street. Wow, with Nyx in control I was like some badass character. Simply put, I'm awesome.
Hades in the meantime landed on another building and was now sliding down it all cool like. He landed without a thud and The Remnant ranks shifted nervously. Hades face held no emotion what so ever. And then he rushed them.
He pulled his sword out and ran in between the ranks, cutting people down left and right. People charged, but he just blocked their own blades, hit them hard and sliced right through them. He didn't laugh, he didn't glare, his face was all neutral. Weird. I rushed into the fight. Athena appeared at my side again, her spear raised once again.
"Back again." She said with a hint of humor. I couldn't help but smile at our battlefield-impending-doom humor.
"Round 2. Commence." As we dived into the ranks.
I ran straight to Hades, the knife that I used to sacrifice Korbyn, the leader of the Lyons with, in my hand. He seemed to be preoccupied with seven people charging at him. Time to make it eight.
Athena jumped and went airborne and threw her spear. Hades grabbed it out the air and impaled someone with it. He deflected a blade, drove his own through him and when I was about to stab him in the back, the blade sunk straight through him, me with it.
I passed right through Hades into Toni who had just rushed him too, my blade sunk hilt deep into her chest where I aimed high. In a second, Hades disappeared and I was left holding my best friend.
"I will kill you with your best friend's hand." Hades had threatened Toni.
And he was right.
Because at that moment, the life in my best friend's eyes faded. A lasting look of shock as me, her best friend, had delivered the final blow. The scream that left my mouth will forever haunt the city and me and so will my shaking form.
The battle ranged on but I was stuck in place.
Vengeance, Nyx swore.
Vengeance.
