Wrong Decisions to Right Paths

Chapter 4

This was strange, Arjun was behind me and he hold me before I fell down. We did not had that intense eye lock that happen in Indian serials nowadays but I felt uncomfortable to be in hold of someone who met you a few hours ago and I moved back abruptly.

He just smiled at me. I had many questions going on in my mind. Was he following me? Why is he here at this time? Why is he with me? I gave him a confused look. But he was just smiling.

“ Hey, you here at this time?” I asked.

“ You too are here. May I ask why?” He asked with a smirk. And I realized I should have not asked.

“ Hmm actually I just came for a walk. Ok then bye” I said and started walking. I did not wanted to talk to him now as I was still trying to digest to what all happened in just few hours.

“ Do you like me?” he asked, and stopped me by holding my forearm. I halted with his touch and turned facing him. I looked at him and then at my hand which he was still holding. Slowly he left my forearm and hold my hand in his.

“What? …..” was the only reply I could give. I felt his hold tighten on my hand and in one go he pulled me towards himself and snaked his other hand around my waist pulling me more closer. And I closed my eyes with so much proximity. He whispered in my ears, “but I started loving you since I first saw you.”

I was not able to comprehend anything. His hold was tight on my waist, his breath was short but heated on my ears. I was trying to understand everything but failed miserably. I was out of words. His hold loosen.

“See you in the weekend.” Saying this he started walking away then stopped and asked me, “should I drop you?”

But I just nodded in negative. And started walking fast towards my cycle and I could hear him chuckle.

I came back home. And called out my mom, “mom where are you? I want to ask you something?”

My mom came and I saw she was on phone with someone. So I kept quiet for a moment. After she ended the call, I asked her about Arjun, how she got this alliance for me. But she politely answered me that Nandini Aunty called her initially a month ago but my mom wanted to understand the family first before proceeding. She also declared to me that they were already willing to get her son married to me but my mom wanted to be assured before heading towards any decision.

“So they already knew everything about me. They even saw me before.” I tried to understand and comprehend. I started to calculate what Arjun said and what my mom said just now. Flashes of his proximity came right before my eyes and I could feel butterflies in my stomach. So that means he saw me before and asked his mom to send his alliance for me.

My mom called me out and I came out of my thoughts. My mom asked me to go and get fresh as it was a long day for me. I headed straight to my room thinking a person like me who is not very beautiful can be liked by someone. I came for dinner but did not felt like eating. My mom did not forced me to eat too. Many questions were running through my mind.

Why does he love me? I am pretty sure it’s not because of my looks. As far as I know I never played with children or puppies or water or like specifically helped an elderly or disabled person that he liked any activity of mine on the streets which happens in the movies. I am a very simple person who goes to college and comes back home in the cycle and also I don’t stop with my friends to eat pani puri that he noticed me giggling with my friends. Then why did he said that he loved me at first sight. Where did he saw me? Men are not allowed in my college. I give up. I am tired of thinking now. I will ask him directly afterwards. I need to sleep now otherwise I won’t be able to go to college tomorrow.

Thinking and understanding the situation is not always easy. Even two days were not enough for me to digest the whole thing that happened to me in these three days. And now it’s four in the morning and sleep is no where near me. Today is my engagement and I need to look fresh but I am not able to sleep. I think what's happening to me is normal. I really hope so.

“ Radhika get up!! How much more do you want to sleep??” Riddhima asked me while pulling me from the bed.

“ Riddhima let me sleep for some more time please.” I pleaded but in vain. She pulled me and pushed me into the bathroom.

“ Do you have any idea what's the time it’s eleven thirty.” she scolded me for sleeping so late. “ Take bath and your beautician is already waiting for you since a long time now.”
