i walked on empty
and busy streets
barefooted and hungry
with nothing else
but a heart on my sleeve
and the memories
you didn't want to keep
i went on with this journey
uncertain on what storm
is about to hit the floor
and what kind of world
the future holds
the walk became a run
a race toward the sun
slowly this trek became fun
and took an unexpected stunt
the search for a home
became an adventure
for something more
i found a kind of love
i never had with you
a love for myself
and for everything
my heart could ever give
and maybe that's the only home
i've always needed
not the temporary shelter
your warm embrace provided
