The Next Morning
Bridget wakes up with a yawn, her hands instantly going to rub her still tired eyes. She licks her lips as she looks around the room, her eyebrows furrowing as different objects (that didn't look normal) came into view. Finally, her gaze falls on Alice who was sprawled out on her half of the bed. Bridget cocks her head to the side but the moment of comfort is quickly demolished as the events from the day before came crashing into memory. As quietly as she can, Bridget crawls out of the bed and walks to the door. The door knob feels like ice in her hand as she turned it, but Bridget ignores the tingly feeling and quickly slips out of the room.
Voices from the kitchen float up the stairs and she falls against the door with a sigh. Bridget closes her eyes for a few seconds, trying to gather the courage to step downstairs to confront everyone. "It's now or never." She whispers to herself before Bridget forces herself down the stairs and into the kitchen where everyone waited.
"Morning." Bobby sadly smiles.
"Hey." She greets with a pathetic wave as she falls against the door frame.
"Well, sit down. You've got a lot to explaining to do." Dean sighs as he gestures to the seat across from him that already had a steaming cup of coffee waiting.
"Do we really have to?" Bridget whines. "I think this is more of a 'it's in the past, let's forget about it' kinda thing."
"Sit down." Sam orders while shaking his head, a small smile gracing his lips.
"Good morning, Castiel." Bridget sighs as she waves at the angel who had been standing off in the corner.
"Hello." He greets.
"Let me guess, he's here to figure out what the fuck I am?" Bridget raises her eyebrows. "What? Am I too dangerous now?"
"Sit down." Bobby orders with a loud scoff. Bridget narrows her eyes in his direction but quickly trudges to her seat.
"Alright." Dean smirks as they make eye contact. "Let's begin."
"When I went on that stupid hunt, a group known as Hydra kidnapped me because they somehow figured out who my parents actually were. So they took me from base to base with daily tortures and injections, the injections were filled with different kinds of serums to give me inhuman abilities.
"Which is what you saw Dean, Alice has gone through the same thing but our abilities are completely different. Anyway, I had also been thrown into a different organization known as the Red Room after a few years inside of Hydra, they trained me to pretty much be the next Black Widow if you know what I mean." Bridget sighs and stares down at her cup, her gut churning as she retold her story yet again.
"I escaped during a transfer and snuck into the foster system after calling Bobby to tell him I was alive. After a while, I was adopted by the Avengers and shit escalated from there." Bridget mumbles. "I told Bobby not to tell you guys about me because...well I was afraid this would happen."
"You have one messed up life." Dean comments.
"Okay wow!"Bridget shouts while snapping her gaze to his. "I just fucking poured out my whole sickening life and I get that?!"
"What do you want me to say? It was all sunshine and lollipops?!" Dean sarcastically demands. Sam chokes on his coffee from laughter.
"What the hell is your problem?!" Dean and Bridget yell at Sam as they both turn to face him.
"Is this deja vu for anyone else? I mean this is all you two used to do!" He laughs while tipping his head back. Bridget narrows her eyes at him before turning her glare at Dean, who just rolls his eyes. She purses her lips in anger and pushes back from the table, without a word she walks through the hall and out the back door.
Bridget doesn't look back as she runs through the junk yard and into the woods that were behind it. Her eyes clouding over with tears. Finally, she stops running and stumbles to her knees as she grabbed her head, the painful memories all popping up at once. "You've got to hold it together, you can't show anything." Bridget continues to coach herself. "It's weakness."
"Bridget?" Dean's voice whispers. Automatically, she jumps up and crawls away from him just as his hand had rested on her shoulder. Dean's eyes widen and flash with hurt as Sam kneels down beside him.
"Bri? Are you alright?" Sam questions.
"Does it freaking look like it, Sammy?" Dean hisses. "You don't ask her that!"
"I can still hear you." Bridget sniffles while wiping her cheek. "And I'm fine. You weren't supposed to follow me."
"Well, we did." Sam sighs and moves to sit down on her left. Dean follows and sits on her right. Almost simultaneously, they all fall back against the tree.
"You two have no idea, what's drilled into my brain. Tortured there so I would never be able to realize what was wrong and what was right." Bridget mumbles, her voice breaking off towards the end of her statement.
"I've been to hell and back." Dean replies. "Did the same crap to me."
"Yeah? For how long?" Bridget scoffs.
"Four months but it felt like forty years down there." He mumbles while shaking his head. "You never know what's reality and what's not after coming back from something like that. It all just...blends together and...sometimes you just want it all to end.
"Guess you understand huh?" Bridget whispers back as she leans her head on Dean's shoulder. Sam sighs.
"I lost my soul for a while." He states. "I did so many things that I didn't want to, but I just couldn't stop myself. All the parts of my humanity were gone."
"It sucks." Bridget grumbles as a tear slides down her cheek. "So fucking much."
"We're going to do this together." Sam announces. "Like we used to, that's how everything worked out before."
"Nothing ever worked out for us." Bridget rolls her eyes. "We fucked up so many times."
"Then we'll fuck up together." Dean replies. " 'Cause I'm tired of losing you."
"I'm tired of losing you dicks too." She smiles. "I don't think I could handle it if you...or I left again."
"Yeah, so don't leave." Sam orders.
"Hey guys, I really missed you." Bridget states. "And I'm really sorry for not telling you that I was alive."
"I don't want to say it's okay." Dean replies. "Because it sucked, really bad."
"But no one is blaming you." Sam interrupts Dean. "And we both forgive you."
"Thanks." She smiles. "Should we go back? I think Castiel is waiting for more of an explanation or something...also Bobby is probably going to get worried or something."
"Worried? About what?" Sam raises his eyebrows.
"If I've killed you two, obviously."
