The lost trident

Chapter Seven

"Why is he not picking my calls”, Bianca said for the umpteenth time. She had been calling Andy since Kiara’s drama in the cafeteria but it was always in voicemail. In school she didn’t see much of him. It seemed as if he was avoiding her.

“Hey”, Kiara said as she entered into the room. Bianca did not answer.

“Bianca seriously we can’t continue like this”, she said.

Bianca put on her head phone and turned up the volume to its loudest.

She began to sing along with the music ignoring Kiara completely. Kiara sighed and went out of the room.

“Good ridance”, Bianca said immediately she left and removed the headphone from her head. She dropped it on the dressing table and proceeded to the bathroom.

Just the her phone began to ring, it was a video call from Andy. She quickly adjusted her hair and picked the call.

“Hey”, they both said at the same time and laughed. "I've been calling” Bianca said when they stopped laughing.

"I know my phone was switched off", he said. "That’s a lie", she countered.

"Okay yea I was mad at you". "But you saw that it was my friend that interrupted us".

"Your friend?" Andy asked confused.

"I thought she was your cousin". "No, my friend", she said firmly.

"Okay,anyway I was angry because you didn’t come back to apologise".

"Yea I know I was very pissed off, I didn’t want you to see me like that", she said in defense.

"Well you will have to make it up to me”, he said. “How?” she asked.

'Dinner by seven at the new restaurant by the beach", he said. “Uhm..”, she said thinking.

“Tomorrow is a Saturday”, he said as though he was reminding her that it was a free day and no excuse to say no.

“Okay”, she said. So tomorrow by seven? He asked. Sure, she said. Yes, she screamed as soon as he disconnected.

“So from my research here, this toxin is very dangerous to humans”, Mrs James said to her supervisors.

She was giving them a presentation on a food borne disease ciguatera.

“It is harmless to the fish and it does not have any taste or odour so it is very difficult to detect. Also, cooking does not destroy the toxin” , she continued.

“What are the symtoms?” one of the supervisors asked.

"Well the symptoms start as early as two to as late as twenty four hours after consuming the infected fish and it includes vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and in extreme cases, shortness of breath coma paralysis but death is very very rare. Less than 0.5% actually”, she responded.

"Okay we will call you for more information, also work on a cure because from what I have here there is no cure for the toxin".

"I will", she replied.

"Good", the supervisor said.

They began to murmur among themselves as she left the room.

“How was it?” one of her colleagues asked.

"It was fine at least they agree with me", she said

"Right now I'm tired and I need to go home take a shower and sleep", she continued.

" Thank God tomorrow is Saturday", she added

"Oh yes you need it", her colleague said.

She left the building and entered her car. “Pum pumm”, a car honked at her when she got on the road.

The car overtook her narrowly missing her side mirror. She was about to curse when she saw the drivers face as he sped past her.

She could recognize his face anywhere.

It was Kanner. She followed his vehicle discreetly. He drove to the fish company where her husband worked.

"This is not right”. She said to herself.

Kanner was banished from the Pacific to the artic, how did come come on land, with legs too.

She saw him come out of the car and entered the building. There must be something in that building that had to do with the lost trident.

Kanner was on land, Poesidon too was on land. Something big was definitely going on there.

Then she looked up and saw the name of the factory, Kanner fish factory.

All these years Lance had been working there and she didn’t know the name. it wasn’t his fault actually, the fish factory was the only one in the whole Aqua Ville so it was just referred to as the Fish factory.

Kanner walked into the factory and went to his office. In his office, he opened another door that lead to another room. In the room was a pool.

He transformed into a mermen and entered the pool, he swam till he got into the Ocean proper and onward to shark city where Poseidon was waiting for him.

“How is our plan going?” , he asked Poseidon.

“The sharks are very eager”, he said.

“And our prisoner”, he asked further.

“She refused to eat”, Poseidon replied.

“She better eats because she is going to stay here for a very long time”, Kanner said.
