Chapter Eleven

"Wait a minute", Helen said. "What's happening?" she asked further. "Let Kiara do the explaining mum and you also have to explain why you were so nervous when Andy was around. Gosh, you liked a ghost mum". Bianca replied. Lance kept looking from Bianca to Helen and from Helen to Kiara saying nothing. "Kiara we are waiting", Bianca said. "I have nothing to say", Kiara said looking at Bianca in the eye.

"What do you mean you have nothing to say? I saw you, I freaking saw you controlling water with your mind or hand or whatever it is you were using", Bianca said getting hysterical. "Okay now Bianca, you need to calm down", Helen said approaching her daughter carefully. "Don't come near me mum", Bianca said warningly. "I'm not calming down until I get an explanation for everything that happened tonight".

"Fine", Helen said. Lance and Kiara looked at her with a 'are seriously going to tell her' expression. "You want to know right? Fine, but brace yourself", Helen said. "I'm waiting", Bianca said getting impatient with Helen's unnecessary preamble.

"We are mermaids", Helen said. Bianca became speechless and there was silence. The whole room was silent as a graveyard except for the humming sound of the deep freezer "You mean all of you", Bianca said after she regained her composure. "Nop, just the ladies", Lance said. Kiara and Helen glared at him. "Listen dear", Helen began as Bianca came to sit beside her mum on the sofa. She was so overwhelmed, she couldn't stand. "Kiara is here because she is looking for the trident", Helen said. "What's a trident?" Bianca asked. "A three headed fork with a blue ruby in its middle which stores the moon powers and gives balance to the ocean and all life in it when the moon does not give her light", Kiara replied.

"So how did it get missing?" "Kiara was supposed to guard it but she went sight-seeing, Poseidon stole it from the chamber".

"Who is Poseidon and why would he want the trident?" Bianca asked yet again. "Poseidon is King Neptune's son, supposed heir to the throne and my Nephew". "Nephew?" Bianca asked. "Yes, I am the queen's sister". "So why are you here?" "So, Poseidon had the power to shape shift and because of that he terrorized the merpeople causing nuisance everywhere he went", Kiara continued ignoring Bianca's question. "He even had the guts to come on land and terrorize the people", Lance added. "You know about him too?" Bianca asked her dad. He nodded affirmatively. "He was reported to the king, so the king took Poseidon's powers, stored them in the trident and sent him on exile to the artic", Kiara continued. "He was a very young merman then", Kiara added. "So, how did he come back without you guys knowledge", Bianca asked. "We don't know ourselves but he shape shifted into a fish, snuck into the chamber, stole the trident and came on land", Kiara said.

"So that's why you are here", Bianca said as she took in the whole story. "Mum, why were you banished", she asked. Helen paused for a moment and then she began. "As a mermaid, you are not supposed to reveal your identity to humans". "You revealed your identity?" Bianca asked. "Yes", she replied. "To who?" "To me", Lance replied. "I found her one day while I was fishing", he continued. "And?" Bianca asked. ".We began to talk because I was fascinated about mermaids and she was fascinated about humans", he said. "Just like Kiara, I was an adventure lover, I was tired of the unending rules in the sea", Helen said. "When I was banished, my sister begged that I should be sent to land to meet my true love", Helen continued, looking at Lance when she said true love.

"So how did you know it was Poseidon when you saw him", Bianca asked her mum. I was still in the kingdom when he was born and I cannot mistake his blue eyes", Helen said. "Wow, this is so much", Bianca said after the entire explanations. "It is going to take some time for me to process all this", she said further. "But from all you said, Poseidon's power was taken from him so how was he able to shape shift and get into the kingdom again?" she asked. "In the mermaid kingdom, there are only two merpeople who can shape shift, Kanner and Poseidon", Helen said. "Who's Kanner?" Bianca asked. "He is a merman that tied to kill Neptune and take over the throne", Kiara said. "Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking?" Bianca asked. They all nodded positively

"How is that even possible?" Kanner asked when Poseidon told him all that had happened in the James' house. "The spell was not supposed to let any mermaid know you", he continued to say. "They found out so we have to clean up this mess", Poseidon said. "I only wanted you to keep an eye on my daughter", Kanner lamented. "So what do we do?" Poseidon asked. The invasion has to be now", Kanner said.

"Meanwhile you must not go to that school again", he added. "But that would raise suspicion", Poseidon said. "Going there will also make that Bianca girl confront you", Kanner countered. Poseidon chose not to argue.

The search was finally coming to an end and Kiara was so happy. Kanner and Poseidon had been working together. Kanner had given Poseidon the power to shape shift and get the trident. But what she didn't understand was why she could not recognize Poseidon. Why would he even date Bianca when he knew she was his cousin or maybe he didn't know since Bianca was not born in the ocean but at least he knew she (Kiara) was on land looking for him? Everything did not still add up.

The next morning at school, Bianca kept looking for Andy or Poseidon to confront him on the confessions last night but he was nowhere to be found. "He is not in school", Bianca told Kiara when they met at the cafeteria during lunch. "I think this confirms our suspicion", Kiara said.

We have to call mum Bianca said removing her phone from her pocket. It rang twice and Helen picked up. "Hey, dear what's the matter?" Helen asked when she answered Bianca's call. "He's not in school", Bianca said. "Who", Helen asked. "Poseidon or whatever it is you call him", Bianca responded. "Okay meet me at Kanner's fish factory after school", Helen said. "Okay". "What did she say?" Kiara asked. Kanner fish factory after school".
