TOBIAS

We walk down the hills and go our own ways. The only thing I have never told Bea about is my father. He beated my mother to death a few years ago, and now he beats me more than ever. I get wiped with a belt, locked in closets and made to do stuff that I don't want to do. I'm too scared to stand up to him. The fear is too great.

I open the door as quietly as I can, trying to avoid Marcus.

"Tobias!" a voice I know all too well shouts. He comes pounding down the stairs and drags me out to the car. I know too well not to ask where we are going.

When we arrive at the airport, I have a gut feeling that this is bad. Marcus makes me carry all the bags. There are way too many bags just to go on a business trip.

Then I see the tickets. Destination: Chicago. There was no return ticket. This was not good. It would be a long time until I return.

Bea. She is all I live for. When will I next see her?

BEA

Toby hasn't been in school for a whole week. I spend all my break time alone because I have no other friends.

I go around to his house after school. I knock on the door, but nobody answers, it doesn't even look like a living soul lives there.

As I walk away, I notice a SOLD sign. He's moved and he didn't even tell me.

I run all the way home, crying. I fly through the door and sprint up to my bedroom, slamming the door behind me. I cry myself to sleep.
