TOBIAS
Christina seems to of adopted the new girl, Tris. I really don't approve. PE was terrible today, but I think I've made it very clear that I don't like her.
At lunch she's sitting opposite me; I turn my body to Zeke so I'm not facing her.
Everyone starts talking about how the first part of the day has been so far. I don't bother to join in.
I notice that Tris is playing with a locket. I recognize it from somewhere. No, it can't be. I lean forward and grab it. I stare at it in astonishment. On the back it says 'Bea and Toby'. There must be some mistake.
"Bea?" I say, looking up at her. It takes a moment to realize who I am.
"Oh my god. T-" I put my finger to her mouth to stop her from blurting out my name. I don't want anyone to know who I am, not even Zeke. My dad is the mayor of this city and I don't want anyone knowing I'm his son.
I pull her over the table, on to my lap and hug her tight. I've waited so long for this day and finally it has come.
"I'm sorry for what I did to you today." She dismissed it with a small shake of the head, and lies there relaxed in my arms as if she waited for this day too. Tears start to form around my eyes; She gently pushes them away with her thumb. I see her eyes swell up too, but no tears escape her eyes. The brush of her hand send a weird tingle through my spine.
By now everyone is looking at us.
"Guys, what is going on? I thought you two hated each other," Zeke and Christina say in unison. I show them the locket which is around Bea's neck.
"OMG! I finally get to meet you! Four hasn't shutted up about you since he moved here, and that was some years ago," Christina squeals. Bea raises an eyebrow at me and I turn a red which would put tomatoes to shame.
"He was also going to drag me to England to find you after we finished this year of school," says Zeke. Not true.
"First, it was partly your idea. Second, you wanted to go because apparently England if full of cute girls," I make clear. Uriah, Marlene and Lynn watch amused as everything unfolds in front of them.
"Aw, that's so sweet," Bea says.
I stare at her longer than socially acceptable.
"What?" she says, starting to blush.
"I've missed you so much. But it's been five years, so you probably have moved on."
"No, I haven't. I used to go up on to the hills everyday, remembering all the memories we had together and wishing you would come back. Sometimes I'd think you would of moved on and forgotten me. I was just a silly little girl, you're two years older than me and everyone wanted to be your friend. Why me? I was holding you back," she says looking straight into my eyes. I couldn't advert my gaze; I was stuck on her. Because I love her, but she might probably doesn't see me in that way too, just a friend which left her behind.
"You were my best friend Bea. Anyway, age is just a number, and two years is hardly anything." There is silence between us. Though this time it was awkward silence: something I've never experienced with Bea before.
I hold her tight, not ever wanting to let her go. She traces my jaw lightly with her fingers. They stumble upon a scar.
"What happened?" I've been lying my whole life, but know it seems harder than ever.
"Um, I, er, tripped," I stammer.
[A/N IKR it is short. doing tris's point of view of this moment in the next chapter. Love ya Pansycakes. Be BRAVE! <4]
