The next meeting they had Otis was strangely quiet, but near the end he told Olympia to meet him down at his jail's cell. She didn't know why she listened to him, but she did. She snuck all the way down to the place, where villains were kept behind plastic bars.
"Argh," growled the Shape Shifter, since she was confined in a bubble where she couldn't transform into anything.
"Otis," Olympia whispered loudly through the dim lighting.
"Olympia," he called out in a hushed voice, her heart skipping a beat from the use of her name.
She fell to her knees as she held onto the slick bars, gazing at the beautiful, blue-eyed boy before her. He was also on his knees, curling his fingers over hers wrapped around the thick cylinders, which caused her to blush.
"You have to get me out of here," he hissed urgently.
"But-but I can't. I would lose my job. Is that why you've been so nice to me this whole time," she accused with narrowed eyes.
"No! I swear, it's just... You know more than anyone that I can never join Odd Squad. It goes against everything I stand for, and I don't exactly want to turn good either," he reminded her.
"But, Otis... This is wrong," she stated, worry displayed across her face.
"I know...," he confessed, as he gripped her fingers more.
Her face began blazing as he continued, "But you're my only hope. What if a villain locked you up, and told you that you either had to join them, or turn bad?"
"But that's different...," she claimed.
"Not really. Please, Olympia. If you want, I'll even let you join my squad. You know, if I mess things up for you here...," he sheepishly added.
She sighed as she relaxed her shoulders, pressing her lips together for a moment, the heat from his fingers searing through her own. She was puzzled though, by the feeling of mild lightning bolts also shooting through her skin.
"Fine...," she finally caved.
"Thanks, Olympia," he gratefully replied, feeling as though there was another name that wanted to roll of his tongue.
Partner? No, she was the farthest from that, unless she was his partner in crime?
"Stay here. I'm going to go grab the key," she instructed, as she bounded over to the giant, yellow plastic key displayed on the holder mounted onto the wall.
"Hey! How come he gets to leave," called out the Shape Shifter, but Olympia chose to ignore her.
She was terrified though that if security didn't catch her, that the villains stuck there would squeal on her.
"Olympia, look me in the eye. You can do this," Otis reassured her sternly as she froze, her hand shaking that held the key.
She managed to nod her head before fitting it perfectly into the lock, turning it, so that the tall gate swung open.
"Thanks, partner," Otis spoke, but for some reason it seemed so right and natural, even to Olympia.
"Partner," she couldn't help but still repeat though in confusion.
"Well, I kind of thought it suited you. I mean, you are sort of my partner in crime," he awkwardly got out.
She smiled weakly as she responded, "Only this one time."
He couldn't help but smile a bit himself, before she placed the key back, and then grabbed his hand, causing both of their faces to blaze red.
"Come on, I know my way around headquarters like the back of my hand," she confidently shared.
